About the Role As Engineering Manager for the Events team , you’ll lead a high-performing group of engineers responsible for scaling the company’s event ingestion and identity resolution infrastructure. This role is ideal for leaders who thrive in complex, unstructured environments and want to build mission-critical systems that process millions of requests per second . You’ll work on distributed systems, architect next-gen streaming infrastructure, and help define how modern event pipelines should scale. You’ll report directly to the Director of Engineering and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the company’s most technical platform area. Key Responsibilities Lead and grow a team of backend and infrastructure engineers
Oversee the architecture and scaling of real-time event streaming services
Design, implement, and optimize highly reliable systems (zero-downtime goals)
Solve complex problems in distributed systems, performance, and observability
Collaborate closely with Product, Data, and other engineering teams
Foster a culture of ownership, technical excellence, and customer-first thinking
Ideal Candidate Background You’re a seasoned engineering leader who has scaled systems and teams in fast-paced environments. You care deeply about building reliable infrastructure and enabling engineers to do their best work. Must-Have Experience: 8–12+ years in backend/fullstack engineering, with 3+ years in engineering management
Scaled backend infrastructure to millions of requests per second
Deep expertise in distributed systems, messaging queues (Kafka, SQS, Kinesis, Pub/Sub)
Experience managing teams of 10+ engineers
Proven success building and leading high-performing teams in high-growth startups (
Nice to Have: Prior experience as a tech lead, startup CTO, or team founder
Experience in performance tuning and event architecture
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to break down complex technical problems and delegate effectively
Track record of hiring top-tier talent and coaching them to success
Additional Details Compensation: $220K–$280K base + equity
Visa Sponsorship: TN and H1B transfer available
Work Environment: 100% remote, North America
Timeline: Actively hiring with an aim to fill before Q2
