Overview Assistant General Counsel - Transactional Join to apply for the Assistant General Counsel - Transactional role at State Bar of California. Base pay range: $140,123.00 / yr - $231,023.00 / yr. Office of General Counsel (OGC) provides in-house counsel services to the State Bar, including representation in state and federal courts, governance matters, and advisory support to the Board of Trustees and programmatic clients. Remote work up to four days per week may be available. Responsibilities Assist in handling transactional and advisory matters, including negotiating and drafting a wide range of contracts and advising on contract terms, risks, and procurement processes. Provide legal advice on contract terms and assist with procurement processes. Support other OGC teams on matters including governance, regulations, and open meeting requirements as applicable. Support review and analysis of insurance matters, including policies, claims reporting, and coordination with carriers or brokers as needed. Assist in second-look reviews of disciplinary matters and other tasks as assigned, under supervision. Maintain and apply knowledge of relevant laws and regulations (e.g., California Public Records Act, Bagley-Keene Open Meeting Act, Government Claims Act, governance) and communicate implications to clients. Collaborate with attorneys, staff, and stakeholders to ensure timely and effective completion of investigations, cases, and projects. Qualifications Attorney III Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school. Minimum of four (4) years progressively responsible experience in litigation and / or legal advisory work. Active in good standing with the State Bar of California. Attorney IV Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school. Minimum of five (5) years progressively responsible experience in litigation and / or legal advisory work. Active in good standing with the State Bar of California. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications and successfully complete the State Bar's selection process for this classification.
