As an Associate General Counsel in the Marketing Practice Group, you will report to the Head of the practice group, and work closely with all members of the Global Legal team and business leaders throughout the company. You will be working from either our San Francisco or San Jose office three days a week. You may work remotely two days a week. The right candidate will have a basic understanding of and enthusiastic belief in the cryptocurrency/digital asset space, relevant litigation and regulatory experience at a top law firm or in-house at a fast-paced, brand-name business, and possess strong academic credentials and excellent writing and analytical skills. The ideal candidate possesses experience working on matters in financial services, cryptocurrency/digital assets, financial services regulation and securities laws. Responsibilities include supporting the business in a wide range of legal coverage areas including marketing and advertising, product promotion and development, global regulatory matters, token listings, contract negotiation; working with a global team of attorneys supporting the Company's global growth, local markets and marketing and advertising departments; managing outside counsel and interpreting legal advice to comport with the firm's business development plans and risk appetite; assisting the team's litigation and regulatory practice group on global regulatory matters and inquiries when necessary; collaborating with product and business development teams to achieve company-wide projects and goals; and managing legal requests from all areas of the business and effectively advising on legal concepts and legal risk with an eye towards the strategic goals of business leaders. Requirements include active membership with a state bar (CA preferred) or eligibility to practice in California as a registered in-house counsel; residency in the San Francisco Bay Area; litigation and regulatory experience at a top-tier law firm and/or in-house legal team, preferably in financial services or crypto industry; experience advising on cryptocurrency and blockchain technology legal issues or strong interest and knowledge in the field; ability to work independently in a fast-paced, growth-stage and multi-cultural environment; ability to effectively advise and build trust with business teams; ability to navigate through a rapidly-changing legal landscape and deal with legal ambiguity; and ability to work in a high-functioning legal team and feel comfortable in a collaborative working environment. Nice to haves include experience working on cross-jurisdictional matters and a global legal team and experience working in the financial services industry in the United States.
