Overview Authorization Representative Neurosurgery Clinic – Join to apply for the Authorization Representative Neurosurgery Clinic role at Banner Health. The position is with Banner Staffing Services-AZ in Mesa, Arizona. Work shift is Day, Monday-Friday from 7am-3:30pm. This is a Registry/Per Diem opportunity without guaranteed hours or medical benefits; internal opportunities may be available.
Location: Neurosurgery Clinic - 755 E McDowell Rd, 2nd Floor, Phoenix, AZ.
The role is responsible for obtaining and processing all pertinent clinical information needed for the authorization of professional and medical services. The position responds to patient referrals and works with insurance companies to pre-certify services based on the patient’s benefit plan. Prior authorization experience is preferred.
Responsibilities Respond to patient referrals for tests, procedures, and specialty visits. Obtain authorizations required by various payors, including verification of patient demographic information, codes, dates of service, and clinical data. Re-certify services when necessary.
Authorize and schedule appointments. Answer questions regarding the authorization process and provide information to physicians, patients, and third-party payers. Depending on department/location, inform patients about necessary preparation for procedures or tests.
Provide authorization numbers and patient demographic information to appropriate staff, including billing. Inform staff and physicians about eligibility issues and assist with denials and appeals.
Document and maintain records of all referral activity and authorizations.
Perform other related duties as assigned; cross-coverage in other areas may occur.
Maintain frequent communication with patients, physicians, staff, and third-party payers; prioritize tasks within established guidelines with moderate supervision.
Minimum Qualifications High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency with commonly used office software.
Preferred Qualifications One or more years of experience in a medical office or insurance environment.
Knowledge of managed care concepts and medical terminology, ICD-9 and CPT codes.
