What We're Looking For
We seek a Backend Engineer to develop and scale the Lightning AI platform, including frontend, CLI, API, billing, security, and integrations.
You will own key features, drive development from concept to release, and collaborate with a talented team of engineers, product managers, and designers. This role involves building innovative technology to transform the machine-learning ecosystem. You will join the Blue Squad and report to the Director of Engineering. The position is hybrid, based in our Bay Area office, with a requirement of 2 days in-office per week. The salary range is $120,000 - $250,000.
What You'll Do
Write readable, testable, and efficient code in Go (Golang).
Master our technology stack to develop new features, improve system stability, and enhance performance.
Collaborate with engineering and product leaders to develop the Lightning product and set technical direction for major projects.
Evaluate, document, and improve technical architecture, tools, and processes.
Champion quality, automation, continuous delivery, and reduce technical debt.
Mentor engineers on system design, problem-solving, and working in high-uncertainty environments.
What You'll Need
Extensive experience coding in Go, with a focus on testing, readability, and optimization.
Knowledge of backend and frontend systems, API development, CLI tools, billing, and security protocols; frontend experience is a plus.
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and designing scalable, reliable systems.
Proven ability to own features and manage end-to-end development.
Commitment to quality, automation, and rapid delivery, with experience managing technical debt.
Experience as a backend or product engineer in a SaaS environment.
Strong collaboration and communication skills.
Ability to operate effectively in dynamic, uncertain environments.
