Where this role will take you This role isn't just about data; it's about transforming raw information into powerful business solutions. You'll be at the forefront of innovation, leveraging Salesforce’s business intelligence, marketing, and cutting-edge predictive and generative AI to deliver tangible results for customers. You’ll be face to face with our customers’ chief technology officers, chief data officers, data architects, integration architects and data analysts solving real world big data problems in our global Public Sector, Education, and Non-Governmental Organizations.
You’ll be working alongside solution engineers using Salesforce’s AI-driven business intelligence to show customers how to ask their data questions. You'll not only define technical architectures but also shape the very vision of data for our clients, creating exciting, real-world business scenarios.
You’ll also be using your big data skills to create AI agents that interact with humans in real time chats and AI-generated messaging. These agents seamlessly navigate across disparate data sources to solve the swivel-chair problems of humans working across multiple applications.

Job Description The big data Technical Architect is a pre-sales customer-facing enterprise data domain advisor applying broad technical skills, with deep industry knowledge and business acumen.
In this role, you will support sales teams in developing compelling Salesforce value propositions that align to our public sector, education, and non-governmental organization customers’ big data strategies and ambitions. While this area includes traditional Business Intelligence applications, it expands upon that to include outbound communications (Marketing Cloud), Customer Service, and Artificial Intelligence applications as well.

You have subject matter experience in categories that may include data strategy, data lake architectures, data ingestion, data transformation, API integration, cloud computing, distributed platforms, mobile platforms, and business intelligence/analytics. With a solid blend of technical and customer-facing skills you use a consultative approach to understand business and technical requirements.
Key Qualifications and Skills Data lake storage, which may include technologies such as Databricks, Snowflake, Azure Data Lake, Google Cloud Storage, AWS S3 / AWS Lake formation
Data ingestion concepts like batch ingestion, real time streaming ingestion, event-drive ingestion, and change data capture ingestion
Data Mapping and Transformation concepts and hands-on experience using data mapping capabilities that include ETL tools like Informatica or integration technologies such as Mulesoft
Canonical Data Models (CDMs) - concepts and purposes of CDMs, benefits of industry standard CDMs like FHIR
Putting data to work by determining the data requirements needed to drive business use cases from a catalog of data
Making data actionable using API-driven integrations
Preferred Qualifications and Skills Hands on knowledge and experience working with Salesforce Data Cloud, Data Cloud Connectors, and configuring data merging, mapping, and transformations using Data Cloud tools
Experience using Informatica for data extraction, transformation and loading (ETL)
Experience working with Salesforce Marketing Cloud using Data Cloud or Salesforce Customer Data Platform (CDP)
Experience using Mulesoft as a data migration tool, to create actionable APIs, and emerging knowledge of Mulesoft's Model Context Protocol (MCP) capabilities as a driver for AI agent interaction
Knowledge and experience with any of the Salesforce Industry Clouds such as Health Cloud, Financial Services Cloud, Education Cloud or Public Sector Solutions
Knowledge of working with and integrating existing data lake technologies like Databricks, Snowflake, Azure Data Lake, etc and how these technologies can work alongside Data Cloud
What you will be doing Team with account executives and solution engineers to advance opportunities through discovery workshops, enablement sessions, and architecture presentations
Begin with the end business goals in mind, and work backwards to identify the supporting data sources, data aggregations, and calculated insights required to support the business goals
Define customer-driven architectures by selecting appropriate Salesforce technologies, leveraging product expertise, industry experience, data frameworks, and Salesforce methodologies. Develop and communicate data architecture (vision, capability models/assessments) and technical architecture (current/future state diagrams, roadmaps, design patterns, and reference architectures) to progress sales opportunities
Work with Solution Engineers to create AI agents that take customers’ existing portfolio of data siloes and applications and create Salesforce agents that navigate across traditional data silos to accomplish real business-driven scenarios
Develop predictive models using Einstein Studio on top of Data Cloud
