Job Description
Position Summary: Our Business Development Manager drives the company’s growth by leading strategic initiatives to identify, develop, and capitalize on new business opportunities. This role identifies and pursues growth opportunities by building relationships, generating leads, negotiating partnerships, and driving revenue through strategic sales and market expansion initiatives. The Manager works closely with leadership to align business development strategies with overall company goals and is instrumental in expanding the company’s market presence and achieving long-term success through revenue generation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Business Development
- Develop and execute comprehensive strategic plans to capture new business opportunities and form high-impact commercial partnerships.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the company’s core offerings in roofing and paving, along with any additional services the company takes on, to identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities.
- Target new customers as well as current customers with an annual spend below a company-defined threshold to uncover untapped revenue potential.
- Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitive dynamics to inform sales strategy and drive business growth.
- Lead the creation and presentation of high-level business proposals to key stakeholders and decision-makers.
Lead Generation and Qualification
- Oversee and refine the lead generation and qualification processes, working closely with the sales development team.
- Develop and implement strategies to prioritize and convert high-potential leads, including prospects for multiple service lines.
- Foster a culture of excellence in lead management, conversion, and cross-selling within the team.
Market Intelligence and Reporting
- Conduct advanced market research to identify new opportunities and emerging trends that align with the company’s strategic goals.
- Provide strategic insights and recommendations to leadership based on market analysis and client feedback.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators, including pipeline health, deal conversion rates, revenue growth, and cross-selling performance.
Sales Strategy and Execution
- Develop and implement effective sales strategies to achieve company growth targets and enhance market positioning across all service lines.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and execute go-to-market strategies aimed at capturing target accounts.
- Lead the creation and delivery of compelling presentations and pitches to prospective clients and strategic partners.
- Oversee high-stakes negotiations and deal closures to secure favorable terms and long-term partnerships.
Proposal & CRM Integrity
- Generate and prepare proposals for prospective clients in alignment with company standards and client needs
- Enter and maintain lead information in the CRM or sales tracking system to ensure accurate reporting and follow-up.
- Add new clients to the company database and ensure all required documentation and onboarding steps are completed.
- Schedule and coordinate meetings, site visits, and presentations with prospective and existing clients.
Be a Value-Added Member of the Team
- Maintain close, positive working relationships with all staff and colleagues.
- Represent the company favorably to customers and vendors at all times.
- Follow existing procedures, including accounting procedures, and provide feedback for improvement whenever possible.
- Be willing to “step up” to positively lead colleagues and subordinates.
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform ad-hoc projects and other duties as assigned.
- Participate in required training and certifications to stay current with industry standards and company practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in sales, business development, or a related role, preferably in a B2B environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and engage with prospects.
- Proactive and self-motivated with a results-driven mindset.
- Familiarity with CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, NetSuite) and sales prospecting tools.
- Ability to understand and articulate complex products or services to a B2B audience.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience in a specific industry related to the company's target market (e.g., tech, SaaS, manufacturing).
- Knowledge of lead generation best practices and tools.
- Experience in account-based marketing (ABM) and sales strategies.
- Proficiency in using LinkedIn Sales Navigator and other prospecting tools.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
The BDM role may be eligible for full-time remote worked based on location.
This is a full-time position with a typical workweek of 40 or more hours, with additional hours as needed to support business operations. Employees may be eligible for a hybrid or remote work arrangement, based on their proven track record and location eligibility. This role requires up to 50% travel.

Expected Salary Range:
The expected salary range offered for this position is $100,000.00-$145,200.00 annually. Actual pay will be adjusted based on various factors including but not limited to, experience, role-related knowledge and skills, relevant education or training, geographic location, and other job-related factors as permitted by law. Depending on the position offered, the compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of a discretionary bonus or commissions.
