Role Overview
The Data Cloud & Marketing Cloud Capability Lead is a hands-on leadership role responsible for scaling and elevating Thunder's global capability in Marketing Cloud Next (MC) and Data Cloud (DC). This leader will blend thought leadership, delivery excellence, team development, and go-to-market (GTM) strategy execution to grow both the internal capability and Thunder's influence in the Salesforce ecosystem.
This role balances strategy and execution, maintaining a 60% billable utilization target as a solution architect or subject matter expert on MC/DC programs, while owning the vision, standards, team performance, and practice maturity across both clouds.
Key Responsibilities
- Solution Architecture & Strategic Delivery (60% Billable)
- Serve as Lead Architect on complex and strategic Marketing Cloud (MC) and Data Cloud (DC) engagements.
- Guide project teams in aligning solution architecture with Salesforce best practices and customer business goals.
- Support estimation, scoping, and proposal creation in partnership with pre-sales and delivery teams.
- Define and enforce delivery frameworks, reusable assets, architecture standards, and QA protocols.
- Act as the point of escalation for MC/DC delivery issues, ensuring high-quality and timely resolutions.
- Partner with the resourcing team to place the right talent on the right projects, monitor utilization, forecast needs, and address under/over-utilization proactively.
- Capability Leadership & Vision
- Define and communicate the strategic direction for Thunder's MC/DC capabilities in alignment with internal growth objectives, Salesforce product direction, and market demand.
- Drive maturity across delivery methodology, asset creation, and reusable accelerators.
- Lead a global team of consultants, solution architects, and technical leads, owning performance, growth plans, and career development in partnership with L&D and Communities of Practice.
- Foster a high-performance, collaborative culture driven by mentorship and technical excellence.
- Oversee internal enablement programs such as lunch & learns, knowledge documentation, and capability-specific training.
- Market Growth, GTM Strategy & Salesforce Partnership
- Design and execute GTM strategies for the Data Cloud and Marketing Cloud capability areas in collaboration with Sales and Delivery.
- Develop targeted offerings including industry accelerators, cross-cloud solutions, and reusable IP.
- Lead GTM working sessions and pipeline reviews, proactively identifying growth gaps and co-creating plays to drive new bookings.
- Build and nurture strategic relationships with Salesforce PAMs, AEs, product leaders, and alliances stakeholders.
- Represent Thunder at Salesforce events such as Dreamforce, World Tours, QBRs, and enablement forums.
- Track and report progress on certifications, Navigator ranking, CSATs, and ACV goals.
- 10+ years of Salesforce consulting experience with strong specialization in Marketing Cloud and Data Cloud (fka CDP).
- Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional Salesforce practices or cloud capabilities at scale.
- Proven track record in architecture, delivery, and enablement of enterprise-scale MC/DC engagements.
- Strong understanding of Salesforce product suite across Marketing Cloud (Engagement, Intelligence, Personalization, Journey Builder) and Data Cloud (Data Modeling, Segmentation, Real-Time Activation).
- Deep experience in delivery operations, resourcing strategy, and pre-sales architecture.
- Salesforce certifications in Marketing Cloud and Data Cloud.
- Strong relationship-building, communication, and leadership skills.
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
- Willingness to travel for team, client, or Salesforce engagements as needed.
- Travel required (up to 25-50%) as necessary
