The Career & Engagement Manager is responsible for leading Generation Hope’s Career Readiness Program and overseeing the Community Engagement team, which is responsible for recruiting new Scholars, mentors, and volunteers. This role has ultimate accountability over the organization’s success in meeting career-readiness goals for teen parents in the DC Scholar Program as well as meeting recruitment targets. The Career & Engagement Manager works closely with the Director of DC Programming to continuously improve the processes, function, and outcomes of the Career Readiness program. They also represent Generation Hope to nonprofit partners, students, donors and various other constituent groups. The Career & Engagement Manager should have a solid track record in working with youth and children, a background in career advising and volunteer recruitment, strategic planning skills, outstanding customer service, strong professionalism and relationship-building skills. They must have a demonstrated interest in serving students with low income.
Responsibilities:
Career Readiness Program Management Plan, execute, and evaluate the annual Career Week (virtual across sites), in-person Career Day, and quarterly Career Exploration events..
Collaborate across departments to cultivate relationships with companies and partners who may be providing both financial support for Generation Hope and career opportunities for Scholars.
Lead and manage the annual Scholar internship program, including recruiting internship hosts, annually placing at least 20 Generation Hope Scholars in internships (including at least 5 in virtual internships that can be open to Scholars across sites), designing training and support to ensure that their experiences are successful, and working with internship host partners.
Maintain and update curriculum for one-on-one career coaching for Generation Hope Scholars and Alumni.
Oversee career coaching services to Scholars and Alumni, including directly providing individualized career coaching to our participants and working with volunteers to provide career coaching services.
Create and manage partnerships with other career services organizations that may be able to support our Scholars.
Collect and track data on the Career Readiness Program and partner with the Research team to communicate metrics to internal and external stakeholders and innovate around areas for improvement.
Supervision and Leadership Coach, support, and evaluate up to two direct reports and an intern regularly to achieve performance goals and to grow and develop the team through weekly 1:1 meetings, feedback, and guidance.
Create efficient processes and systems for optimal team functionality.
Monitor and manage the recruitment and outreach budget.
Keep the Director of DC Programming informed of recruitment and career-readiness progress and regularly collaborate with other program managers to ensure overall programmatic goals are being met.
Mentor Recruitment In partnership with the Director of DC Programming and the Recruitment Coordinator, develop, lead, and implement a strategy around recruiting one-on-one mentors for Generation Hope’s DC-area programming.
Have ultimate accountability for meeting mentor and Sponsor recruitment targets.
Ensure that Generation Hope is able to recruit a group of mentors that reflects the diversity of the Scholar community.
Work with the development team and the Director of DC Programming to raise funds in support of Generation Hope’s mentoring program.
Perform other tasks as assigned to support Generation Hope’s mission.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
At least five years experience working with youth, particularly youth from marginalized communities
At least three years experience providing career services or workforce development
At least two years of management experience
At least two years of experience recruiting mentors or volunteers
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with working with teen parents
Experience in career counseling or coaching
Experience with program evaluation
Bilingual Spanish/English
Certified Career Coach (CCC) or Certified Career Development Practitioner (CCDP).
Ability to analyze and interpret program performance data and make data-driven adjustments to maximize impact.
Compelling and confident public speaker who is comfortable speaking and presenting in both formal and informal settings
Personal and professional commitment to understanding and dismantling systemic and institutional racism
Strong relationship-builder who can connect with a diverse range of people and groups and inspire people to action
Comfortable making fundraising asks of companies involved in the Career Readiness Program and able to “close the deal”
Excellent written, oral, and verbal communication skills with keen attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Fantastic customer service ethic and high expectations for quality
Experience planning and facilitating or co-leading workshops and events
Ability to make people feel comfortable and create rapport
Access to events/meetings around the D.C. metro area that may not be metro-accessible
Willingness to adjust hours to accommodate the needs and schedules of Scholars. Must be available for special events and trainings, which may occur on evenings and weekends.

Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 20lbs at times.
Work Environment: Normal office environment. Some work will take place offsite. Travel:
This position requires regular regional travel for activities such as meetings, classes, and workshops in and out of the DC Metro area. Must be able to travel (via plane, train, or car) to attend trainings, conferences, project sites, and related activities.
Must have access to reliable, insured transportation to get to events around the D.C. metro area
Candidates must be able to meet the onsite work schedule by the start date.
