POSITION OVERVIEW: The Chief Accounting Officer will be a globally experienced and strategic accounting executive who will lead our accounting and financial reporting functions as we prepare to become a publicly traded company. The CAO will report to the CFO and serve as a critical leader within the finance organization, responsible for ensuring the integrity of global financial reporting, internal controls, and regulatory compliance across all jurisdictions in which the organization operates.
This individual will lead accounting operations across multiple geographies and support the development of scalable, audit-ready infrastructure in line with public company standards (e.g., SEC, IFRS, SOX). The ideal candidate will bring deep technical accounting expertise, multinational operational experience, and have led finance teams through IPO or public company transitions in fintech or financial services.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead accounting workstreams for IPO readiness, including preparation of S-1 filings (U.S.) and/or local regulatory filings (UK, EU, APAC), and oversee the preparation of consolidated financial statements following U.S. GAAP and/or IFRS, depending on jurisdiction.
Develop accounting governance and documentation to satisfy the SEC and investor requirements.
Oversee general ledger, revenue recognition, intercompany accounting, and tax provisioning across multiple countries and entities, and implement global accounting policies and ensure adherence to local laws.
Optimize ERP integrations such as NetSuite, Paradigm, and Workiva, along with financial close processes.
Ensure global regulatory and tax compliance, including SOX readiness and internal controls, and partner with internal and external auditors to manage global audits and ensure timely submittal.
Implement a robust internal control framework that supports compliance and public company standards.
Build and lead a high-performing, globally distributed accounting team, and collaborate cross-functionally with legal, investor relations, treasury, tax, and operations.
Advise executive leadership on the accounting implications of strategic decisions, mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activity, and global expansion.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree and a CPA or equivalent international accounting qualification required.
15+ years of progressively senior accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a public company
Expertise in both U.S. GAAP and IFRS strongly preferred.
Experience with SOX 404 compliance, enterprise risk management.
Experience managing accounting across multiple legal entities and jurisdictions with different currencies.
Demonstrated success leading accounting functions in global financial services or fintech.
Prior leadership experience through an initial public offering (IPO) or a transition to a public company.
Strong executive presence and ability to communicate with boards, regulators, and investors.
LOCATION:
New York City (Mid-Town) Hybrid 3 days per week in office
COMPENSATION:
Salary, bonus, and stock options are commensurate with a pre-IPO FinTech company.
