We are currently recruiting for a Consulting Actuary / Client Relationship Manager (CRM). The CRM will support a book of business in the West Region, focusing on the Public Sector market. The candidate may be based in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Phoenix, or Denver.
The Opportunity: The individual will play a key role in the growth of the public sector retirement benefits consulting business and will have a significant impact as a regional contributor.
The Role: The CRM's responsibilities include client management, project management, and new business development. The CRM maintains primary relationship accountability for assigned clients, ensures overall service quality, and fosters client satisfaction. They will collaborate across Segal to offer comprehensive consulting services. Key duties include:
Understanding client issues, anticipating needs, and navigating solutions
Building rapport and effective relationships within client organizations
Innovating client deliverables and industry presence
Providing strategic expertise on employee retirement benefits issues
Applying complex actuarial concepts and methods
Collaborating to maintain influential client relationships
Leading or participating in new business initiatives in the Public Sector market
The Consultant also mentors staff and contributes to their professional development.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
At least 9 years of experience in employee benefits consulting or related fields, with exposure to public sector retirement strategies
An undergraduate degree
ASA certification (FSA preferred)
Ability to engage directly with clients immediately
Strong business, leadership, and relationship-building skills
Experience in managing client relationships and delivering complex information clearly
Analytical skills to identify issues and develop solutions
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse audiences
Willingness to travel as needed
About Segal and Compensation:
Segal, a private firm with over 80 years of experience, provides employee benefits, HR, and investment consulting. The salary range for this position is $124,500 to $180,000, plus discretionary bonuses. Benefits include a non-contributory pension, 401(k) with matching contributions, health benefits, paid time off, and professional development support.
