AARP Services, Inc., founded in 1999, is a wholly-owned taxable subsidiary of AARP. AARP Services manages the provider relationships for and performs quality control oversight of the wide range of products and services that carry the AARP name and are made available by independent providers as benefits to AARP’s millions of members. As a Corporate Attorney in the Office of General Counsel for AARP Services Inc., you’ll support senior attorneys on a wide range of transactional and strategic legal matters. Your work will span contract drafting and negotiation, due diligence, and early-stage new product development (NPD), including vetting prospective providers. Responsibilities Conducts legal research on potential regulatory and other issues related to existing and prospective relationships with providers of AARP-branded products and services in order to help mitigate risk to the enterprise. Conducts legal due diligence, and other pre-contract due diligence on prospective providers. Drafts and negotiates non-disclosure agreements with third party prospective providers in connection the New Product Development (NPD) process. Provides legal support to senior OGC staff on new product development and other initiatives to ensure timely completion of projects and transactions. Supports senior OGC staff with the legal responsibility for drafting, negotiating, analyzing, and maintaining contracts for third party provided benefits, products and services for AARP Members. Serves as a point of contact for pre-contract/due diligence matters to the Business Development team as part of the NPD process and supports senior OGC staff on legal matters for the Health, Financial and Lifestyle lines of business. Provides support to senior OGC staff related to development of new business models and other initiatives. Supports senior OGC staff with the legal review of vendor agreements, which range from simple to complex. Qualifications Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school. 3+ years of legal experience in a law firm or corporate in-house setting. Active U.S. Bar membership or eligibility to waive into the DC Bar (DC admission required). Proven ability to collaborate across departments and manage multiple legal matters efficiently. Strong client-service mindset with a team-oriented, approachable, and responsive demeanor. Skilled in managing complex, high-volume projects with precision and timeliness. Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Preferred expertise in transactional law, contract drafting/negotiation, corporate law, consumer protection, advertising, and privacy.
