Job Title: Data Scientist Location: Remote Clearance: U.S. Citizenship Required; Ability to Obtain Public Trust Clearance Position Type: Full-Time Position Overview We are seeking a skilled and motivated Data Scientist to support a federal government program focused on applying advanced analytics, machine learning, and generative AI technologies to modernize digital services, optimize decision-making, and automate workflows. The ideal candidate will have experience deploying cloud-native AI solutions, including the use of AWS Bedrock to leverage foundation models securely and responsibly within a government environment. Key Responsibilities Data Science & Machine Learning Analyze large volumes of structured and unstructured data (e.g., service logs, documents, text records) to uncover trends and develop predictive solutions. Design, build, and validate ML models for tasks such as classification, anomaly detection, forecasting, and natural language processing (NLP). Perform model performance tuning, explainability assessments, and support for continuous learning. Generative AI with AWS Bedrock Utilize AWS Bedrock to access and integrate foundation models (e.g., Amazon Titan, Anthropic Claude) for generative use cases. Develop prompt engineering techniques to optimize responses and ensure alignment with mission-specific objectives. Create generative AI pipelines for applications like document summarization, intelligent assistants, and data extraction. Cloud & MLOps Integration Implement end-to-end ML workflows using AWS services (SageMaker, Lambda, Bedrock), Python, and containerized environments. Collaborate with DevOps and engineering teams to integrate models into production using CI/CD pipelines. Monitor model drift, retraining needs, and system performance over time. Data Quality & Governance Clean, transform, and prepare data for analytics and modeling workflows. Ensure compliance with federal data security, privacy, and accessibility policies (e.g., FISMA, FedRAMP, Section 508). Collaboration & Reporting Work closely with analysts, engineers, and stakeholders to define data science requirements and deliver mission-aligned solutions. Communicate insights through visualizations, presentations, and documentation using Jupyter, Tableau, or Power BI. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related discipline. Minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in data science, applied machine learning, or AI/ML solution development. Proficiency in Python, SQL, and relevant data science libraries (pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn). Experience with AWS cloud services, especially AWS Bedrock, SageMaker, or related tools. Familiarity with NLP tools and frameworks such as Hugging Face Transformers, spaCy, or NLTK. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. U.S. Citizenship and eligibility for Public Trust Clearance. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting federal government programs or regulated industries. Applied experience with foundation models and generative AI technologies. Working knowledge of MLOps practices, containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes). Understanding of responsible AI principles, model transparency, and data ethics. Experience with chatbot development, virtual agents, or intelligent automation solutions.
