Overview Director, Engineering (Auth0) at Okta. Lead our engineering efforts for emerging AI products, focusing on building the technical foundation for identity and security for AI agents. Lead a high-performing engineering organization, partnering with product management and business leaders to bring innovative identity solutions to market.
What you will be doing Engineering Leadership & Strategy: Define the long-term technical vision and strategy for our AI-focused engineering teams. Drive architectural and technical decisions to build scalable, secure, and reliable solutions for the AI and agentic ecosystem.
Team Management & Development: Lead and mentor a team of software engineers. Foster technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Ensure the team has the skills and resources to execute the product roadmap.
Execution & Delivery: Oversee end-to-end development lifecycle from design to deployment and maintenance. Translate roadmap into detailed engineering plans in collaboration with product managers.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product management, design, and other engineering teams to gather requirements, prioritize features, and ensure successful product launches. Serve as the technical authority on bringing identity solutions to the AI world.
Technical Excellence: Drive code quality, security, and performance; build robust and maintainable systems.
Thought Leadership: Represent the company as a subject matter expert in identity, security, and AI; stay current with AI advancements and their implications for security and authentication.
What you will bring Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Extensive experience in software engineering leadership, with at least 2+ years in a Director-level or equivalent role.
Proven experience leading and managing multiple engineering teams.
Deep understanding of identity and access management (IAM) and securing modern applications.
Familiarity with the AI ecosystem, including AI agents, large language models (LLMs), and API/data interactions.
Demonstrated success building and scaling complex technical platforms or API products.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to articulate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
Analytical, data-driven decision-making approach.
Compensation & Benefits The annual base salary range for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay area is USD $266,000—$398,000. Base salary varies by factors such as skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. Okta also offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave in accordance with applicable plans and policies.
