Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field; master’s degree or HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) preferred.
Minimum of 8–10 years of progressive HR experience, from a law firm
Position Summary Lead the strategic and operational functions of the Human Resources department. This role encompasses traditional HR management, oversight of lawyer and professional staff recruiting and development, leadership in promoting inclusive hiring practices and fostering a culture of belonging across the firm. The Director will work closely with the Manager of Lawyer Recruiting & Professional Development to ensure alignment with the firm’s talent strategy and professional growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities Human Resources Management Lead all core HR functions including employee relations, compensation and benefits, performance management, compliance, and HRIS systems.
Remain abreast and ensure compliance with relevant local and federal labor and employment laws.
Develop and implement HR policies and procedures in alignment with firm goals and legal requirements.
Manage employee lifecycle processes including onboarding, offboarding, and retention strategies.
Serve as a strategic advisor to firm leadership on HR-related matters.
Lawyer Recruiting & Professional Development (Oversight Role) Collaborate with and provide strategic oversight to the Manager of Lawyer Recruiting & Professional Development.
Support initiatives related to lateral attorney hiring, law school outreach, and summer associate programs.
Partner with practice group leaders and the Manager of Lawyer Recruiting & Professional Development to align recruiting and development efforts with firm goals.
Help guide the design and implementation of attorney development programs, including mentorship, CLE tracking, and leadership training.
Professional Staff Recruiting & Development Direct recruitment and onboarding of professional staff across departments.
Develop and implement training and career development programs to support staff growth and retention.
Partner with department heads to assess staffing needs and performance metrics.
This position is full time, exempt. Reports To: Executive Director
Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 pm. Hybrid work schedule calling for nine days per month in the office.
