Overview Director of Design, Women's Apparel and Accessories at Everlane. Lead a team of 6 to create commercially successful, relevant and timeless apparel products in Women's Wovens, Knits, Sweaters and Accessories. From product ideation to final pre-production prototypes, you will oversee design sketches through execution. Demonstrate leadership and combine creative and analytical skills to set short-term and long-term strategy for the function and people. Collaborate with cross-functional partners in Merchandising, Technical Design, Raw Materials, Sourcing, Production and peers in Women\'s and Men\'s design. Report to the VP of Design. This position is based in San Francisco with a hybrid schedule (minimum three days in the office per week: Tuesday–Thursday). Responsibilities Brainstorm new product concepts with the VP of Design at Seasonal Product Ideation, with Merchandising and cross-functional partners at Product Milestone. Initiate product and fabric development to satisfy long-term business needs within the Sustainability pipeline. Travel internationally and domestically for vendor direction, inspiration and fabric shows. Strategically develop and grow knit, sweater, woven, and accessories business in line with company targets defined by the long-range plan. Design and develop core knits, sweaters, wovens, and accessories on a quarterly basis with a strategic mindset for platformed fabrications. Prepare and present quarterly sketch reviews and check-ins with the VP of Design, with pipeline milestone overlaps of seasons. Guide the team to achieve an elevated fit direction (including Italian workmanship). Mentor and lead direct reports. Collaborate with the Manager of Mens & Denim to manage calendar, budget and team activities from weekly touch bases to milestone engagement. Qualifications 10+ years of experience designing women's sweaters, knits and woven apparel with Italian tailoring knowledge and ability to perform simple draping. 4+ years of experience managing and mentoring teams. 2-4+ years of experience with private label accessories (footwear, handbags, soft goods and collaborations). Proven track record of building and developing knit, sweater and woven businesses at scale. Deep technical knowledge of knitted fabrics, sweater yarns, woven fabrics, and Italian tailoring/vendors. High competency with fittings and concise, directive cross-functional communication during fittings. Strong point of view on relevant trends. Experience with co-creation, testing off-shore and near-shore processes. Details This is a full-time role based at Everlane\'s San Francisco headquarters in the Mission neighborhood. We follow a hybrid schedule with a minimum of three days in the office per week (Tuesdays through Thursdays). California Residents: The annual compensation range for this role is $143,000 - $172,000. This range is based on the San Francisco geographic area and actual pay may vary based on skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
