& Responsibilities The Director of Government Affairs will be a strategic leader responsible for managing and executing the company's government relations and legislative advocacy efforts. This critical role will serve as the primary interface between Persistent Systems and key governmental stakeholders, ensuring the company's strategic objectives are effectively communicated and advanced through legislative and regulatory channels.
Position Responsibilities
Develop and implement a comprehensive governmental affairs strategy that aligns with Persistent Systems' business objectives and market positioning
Provide expert navigation and strategic guidance through the Congressional defense bill approval process
Provide guidance and leadership to establish and maintain high-level relationships with key members of Congress, congressional staff, and senior officials in defense-related committees
Conduct in-depth analysis of proposed legislation, budget allocations, and regulatory changes that may impact the company's business interests
Prepare detailed briefing materials, legislative summaries, and strategic recommendations for executive leadership
Monitor and analyze the activities of defense-related congressional committees, including Senate and House Armed Services Committees, Senate and House Appropriations Defense Subcommittees, Intelligence Committees, and Homeland Security Committees
Develop and manage advocacy campaigns to support company priorities
Coordinate cross-functional efforts to align government affairs strategies with business development and marketing initiatives
Job Qualifications & Experience Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in government affairs, with a specific focus on defense and national security policy
Extensive knowledge of the Congressional budget and appropriations process
Proven track record of successfully navigating complex legislative environments
Deep understanding of the defense procurement ecosystem
Advanced degree in Political Science, Public Policy, International Relations, or a related field
Demonstrable relationships with key Congressional staff and committee members
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience working directly in Congressional staff roles
Background in defense contracting or national security sectors
Advanced certifications in government relations or public affairs
Proven ability to develop and implement strategic legislative advocacy programs
Total compensation for this role can vary from $180,000 to $220,000 a year based on individual qualifications. Eligibility for bonus.
