Overview We’re seeking an experienced Director of Software Engineering, a strategic and hands-on technical leader with a strong background in real-time rendering, high-performance software systems, and 3D technology development, to lead our engineering teams and guide the evolution of Quidient’s groundbreaking 5D Generalized Scene Reconstruction engine. This is a hybrid position, meaning that you will need to live within easy driving distance to our Technology Center in Columbia, Maryland. What You’ll Do Technical Leadership & Engineering Execution ·Lead the development of Quidient’s 5D GSR engine from concept through production. ·Drive implementation of real-time rendering and scene reconstruction techniques. ·Own the end-to-end architecture and performance of production-grade 5D imaging systems. ·Guide engineering decision-making across multiple teams and technical domains. ·Ensure quality software development practices, including testing, automation, and documentation. Team Management & Strategic Direction ·Manage a growing team of engineers and technical leads. ·Collaborate closely with our CTO and product stakeholders on strategic engineering initiatives. ·Recruit, mentor, and grow top engineering talent. ·Foster a high-performance, mission-driven engineering culture. ·Represent engineering in cross-functional and executive-level discussions. What You Bring Must-Have Qualifications: ·Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. ·7+ years of experience in software engineering, including 3+ years in technical leadership. ·Proven experience shipping high-performance, graphics-intensive software systems. ·Deep expertise in C++ and systems-level architecture. ·Experience with real-time rendering, simulation engines, or spatial computing platforms. ·Strong familiarity with graphics APIs (e.g., OpenGL, Vulkan, DirectX). ·Familiarity with photogrammetry, 3D reconstruction, or image-based modeling. ·Ability to lead teams through ambiguity and technical tradeoffs. ·Meet Quidient, customer, and government security requirements, which may include, but are not limited to a background check, citizenship verification, and Criminal Justice Information Services verification. Nice-to-Have Qualifications: ·Experience in early-stage startups or fast-paced R&D environments. ·Exposure to high-performance computing (GPU/CUDA/FPGAs). ·Background in verticals such as automotive, defense, healthcare, or entertainment. What We Offer Compensation: ·Salary Range: $200,000 - $225,000+ ·Annual bonus and equity as appropriate.
