Overview This position functions as a strategic individual contributor expected to solve enterprise-wide problems in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. To be successful, incumbents must be an expert in large-scale, enterprise systems; understanding not only how to design, enhance, and grow complex systems but also how to collaborate and influence with teams and leaders to deliver on projects that may span years. The Distinguished Engineer must be capable of participating at any level of the project, from coding, to design, to security considerations, to infrastructure architecture and scaling concerns all the way up to building out and maintaining project estimates, roadmaps, and high-level collaborative design content with leaders in and around the organization. This role is accountable for truly owning an enterprise-level initiative. Essential Functions Leads Early Warning Services to the cloud. Drives best practices, architectures, and technology decisions inside the organization utilizing knowledge and lessons-learned from building enterprise-scale systems in the cloud. Collaborates closely with Engineering leaders, Architecture, Security, and external collaboration partners (FIs) that may be engaged on key efforts over the years. Maintains a high bar for execution and excellence in the Engineering team, coaching and developing team members and leaders for a highly engaged, high-performing team; participates in hiring top talent. Identifies opportunities to ship value to Production quickly and incrementally to avoid big-bang delivery. Builds and delivers scalable solutions via relationships with Data, Architecture, and Operations. Ensures software development follows effective quality guidelines and best practices. Ensures accurate/reliable information within company standards including SLAs and audit regulations. Ensures solutions follow Engineering best practices (Quality, CI/CD, scalability, etc.). Keeps executive management informed of department progress and problems. Complies with security policies to maintain confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems and data. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent professional experience. Minimum 15+ years of software engineering experience. Minimum 10+ years of leading efforts or processes in a technology organization. Minimum 5+ years of software engineering experience with large-scale cloud systems. Minimum 5+ years of experience implementing application solutions/services in Cloud using Containerization, CI/CD, automated testing, and security guidelines. Demonstrated technical leadership through large-scale system designs, upgrades, and releases. Strong leadership, management skills, and business acumen. Ability to mentor and energize people with technical and leadership skills. Experience with state-of-the-art technology, architecture, open-source OS, databases, networking, and security. Deep understanding of executing highly scalable, distributed applications in cloud environments. Experience working effectively in cross-functional groups and delivering results. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; ability to convey responsiveness and competence with internal customers, staff, peers, senior management, and vendors. Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive. Background check and drug screen required. Preferred Qualifications Additional related education and/or related work experience preferred. Experience scaling large enterprises in Amazon Web Services is highly favorable. Experience migrating application and data services from on-prem to Cloud. Physical Requirements Working conditions are a normal office environment. The role is primarily sedentary and requires extensive computer use. May require occasional standing, walking, kneeling, and reaching. Ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally. Requires visual acuity and dexterity for documents and computer equipment. Ability to communicate with internal and external customers. Must be able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Compensation and Benefits The Base Pay Scale For This Position In Phoenix, AZ and Chicago, IL is USD 218,000 - 290,000 per year. In New York, NY and San Francisco, CA the range is USD 260,000 - 348,000 per year. Eligible for discretionary incentive plan and benefits. This pay scale is subject to change and not a guarantee of compensation.
