Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Employment Attorney who is passionate about making a difference for clients and contributing to the continued success of our firm. The successful candidate will not only handle a variety of employment law matters but will also play a vital role in strengthening client relationships and enhancing the firm’s reputation in the San Diego community, and the broader California. The firm also handles some Personal Injury matters, as well as business litigation matters.
This is a great opportunity for an attorney who is a solo practitioner or someone who is eager to earn additional income while collaborating with a firm that is committed to excellence.
This is a FULLY REMOTE position.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide legal advice and counsel to employers and employees on federal, state, and local employment and labor laws.
Draft, review, and negotiate employment-related agreements, including employment contracts, severance agreements, and non-compete clauses.
Represent clients in employment-related litigation, including discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, wage and hour, and retaliation claims.
Handle matters before federal and state courts, as well as administrative agencies such as the EEOC, DFEH, and DLSE.
Collaborate with attorneys on complex class and PAGA cases
Conduct workplace investigations into employee complaints, misconduct, or compliance issues.
Advise on policies, employee handbooks, workplace practices, and compliance with wage and hour laws, leave laws, and anti-discrimination statutes.
Defend clients in class actions, arbitrations, and mediations related to employment law.
Provide training and seminars to clients on employment law best practices and workplace compliance.
Collaborate with attorneys and clients to develop litigation strategies and preventative legal solutions.
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar.
2–15 years of experience practicing employment law (litigation and counseling experience preferred).
Demonstrated experience handling employment-related litigation, including discovery, depositions, motion practice, and trial preparation.
Strong knowledge of federal and California employment laws, including Title VII, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, FEHA, CFRA, and wage and hour regulations.
Exceptional legal research, analytical, and writing skills.
Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation abilities.
