What does a Technical Lead Manager, Frontend Infra do at Handshake? Handshake is building a diverse team of dynamic engineers who care deeply about delivering high-quality, high-impact products. We're looking for a Technical Lead Manager to lead our Frontend Platform team—a group focused on the systems, tools, and libraries that power all user-facing experiences at Handshake.
In this role, you’ll be both a technical leader and managing a small team, responsible for supporting and growing a team of 3 full-time engineers and 2 contractors. You’ll lead by example, contributing directly to code and architecture while guiding your team through mentorship, career development, and delivery excellence.
You’ll partner closely with designers, product managers, and engineers across the org to ensure our frontend foundation scales with the company’s growth and enables developers to ship high-quality experiences quickly and confidently.
What you’ll do: Lead and support a high-performing team of frontend engineers through coaching, feedback, and development opportunities.
Collaborate cross-functionally to define and execute on a vision for frontend platform architecture, tools, and standards.
Drive technical strategy and execution, balancing short-term needs with long-term sustainability.
Set clear expectations, align the team around goals, and ensure timely delivery of impactful work.
Stay hands-on: contribute to architecture, code reviews, and high-leverage projects when appropriate.
Champion engineering quality, accessibility, and developer experience across our frontend stack.
Projects you might tackle: Guide the design and rollout of a new shared component library across multiple products.
Improve frontend build tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and local dev workflows to reduce friction for developers.
Lead adoption of new technologies that improve scalability, performance, and user experience.
Establish and evangelize frontend best practices, including accessibility, testing, and documentation.
About you: You have 2+ years of engineering management experience, ideally on frontend or platform teams.
You’ve led teams building and maintaining complex web applications and design systems.
You stay technical and are comfortable digging into code, especially in React and TypeScript.
You’re invested in your team’s growth and take pride in helping others succeed.
You value empathy, communication, and inclusive collaboration across disciplines.
You thrive in fast-moving environments and are excited by the opportunity to shape foundational systems.
