About the role As the Engineering Manager: Product Analytics, you will lead the engineering efforts behind Cloudflare's product analytics initiatives and contribute to Cloudflare’s growth goals. You will work with Product Management to enhance understanding of customer and prospect engagement across Cloudflare’s products. You will tackle challenges such as:
Instrumenting the Cloudflare Product: Provide a powerful platform to gather high-quality user data; maintain a scalable data stack and architecture that enables analytics innovation; manage contention to allow growth.
Building a Data Pipeline for Product Analytics and Billing Data: Build and maintain a robust pipeline supporting product analytics and billing data; enable cross-functional decision-making and broad stakeholder contribution.
Managing Data Quality and Governance: Control data storage and processing costs while ensuring data quality and governance policy adherence.
Serving Diverse Internal Customer Needs: Meet internal customer needs through data dashboards or reports without hindering delivery velocity.
In this role, you will lead a team of engineers, collaborate with product management, design, and GTM teams, and foster a high-performance culture and engineering excellence across Cloudflare.
What you'll do Leadership and Accountability Own the successful execution of goals within the product analytics solution area, aligned with company objectives. Lead by example with high ethics and integrity. Develop leaders within your organization with track records of success.
Delivery and Execution Drive goal-setting and own key objectives, including cross-functional projects. Provide regular progress updates to peers, executives, and stakeholders. Validate team goals for stretch and impact; adjust as needed. Monitor delivery across teams and unblock obstacles to maintain progress. Address underperforming teams and implement necessary changes.
Strategic Thinking and Vision Translate ambiguous problems into concrete goals with clear outcomes. Set direction and strategy across teams to align with the mission. Identify opportunities to leverage existing skills, tools, and technologies to accelerate delivery and reduce waste. Develop a compelling vision and encourage cross-team collaboration.
Technical Excellence Identify improvement opportunities to enhance data quality, pipeline reliability, and development velocity. Collaborate with engineers to implement best practices for data instrumentation and pipelines. Use quantitative measures to track progress and drive corrective action. Stay informed about modern data stacks and analytics tools to lead technical discussions.
Internal Customer Focus Understand internal customer problems by analyzing reporting needs and engaging with data consumers and stakeholders. Develop strategies to serve internal data users focused on product insights or billing analysis.
Responsibilities Leadership Skills Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams in a dynamic environment. Experience reorganizing teams to improve success and adapt to changing goals.
Execution Excellence Strong track record of managing competing priorities and delivering critical tasks. Ability to break down complex problems and drive iterative progress.
Influence and Communication Exceptional communication skills to persuade cross-functional teams. Ability to articulate a clear vision and inspire collaboration.
Technical Proficiency Deep understanding of modern data stacks, product instrumentation, and web technologies. Engineering background preferred; ability to credibly engage with technical teams.
Data-Driven Decision Making Fluent in working with data to inform decisions and persuade stakeholders. Ability to define and track key metrics to measure progress and impact.
Desirable Skills, Knowledge, and Experience Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 5 years in leadership roles focusing on data or analytics Demonstrated excellence in building and maintaining data pipelines for product analytics or billing in an enterprise setting Proven track record of driving organizational excellence and making tough decisions
Bonus Points Internet Expertise Understanding of how the Internet works at layers 2 through 7, or mastery in a similarly complex domain.
Hands-On Experience Experience developing data pipelines, analytics platforms, or contributing to open-source data projects.
Compensation and Equity Compensation may be adjusted depending on work location. New York City, Washington DC, and California (excluding Bay Area): Estimated annual salary $213,000 - $261,000 Colorado-based hires: Estimated annual salary $191,000 - $233,000 Equity This role is eligible to participate in Cloudflare's equity plan.
