Team and Role Overview Seller Merchandising, nested within our Seller Engineering organization, aims to build the world's most connected marketplace for enthusiasts. The team focuses on essential components that enhance Whatnot’s customer experience, committed to creating a fun and engaging journey for buyers and sellers by providing tools for frictionless shopping, such as Checkout, Listing Page, Seller Shop, Buy It Now, and Flash Sales. Looking ahead, the team is poised to innovate and expand, ensuring an ever-evolving and dynamic marketplace for all users.
Responsibilities Own full page web migrations to Next.js
Improve reliability on core marketplace surfaces
Build live experiences to make purchasing more entertaining on Whatnot
Scale our checkout experience
Location Requirements Team members in this role are required to be within commuting distance of our hubs in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, or New York City.

As our next Fullstack Engineer on Seller Merchandising, you should have 5+ years of generalist software development experience in high-growth startups, plus:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience
Web development experience with React, using GraphQL for API development, and modern frontend applications (exposure to Next.js is preferred but not required)
Excellent product instincts—prioritizing user experience over purely technical solutions
Ability to mentor others and build inclusive, supportive teams
Strong ownership instincts—able to own projects from inception to production and beyond
A track record of shipping products and features rapidly
Excellent problem-solving skills and independence in decision-making
Ability to learn new technologies quickly
Proven experience delivering features successfully
Compensation and Benefits Salary: $185,000/year to $205,000/year + benefits + equity
The salary range may include several levels applicable to the role. Final salary will depend on factors such as experience, skills, and level. This range covers base salary only; benefits and equity are additional.
