Overview Head of Finance at AirGarage. This is a hands-on, high-leverage finance leadership role built to scale with the company.
Base pay range : $200,000.00/yr - $250,000.00/yr
About AirGarage AirGarage is on a mission to bring real estate online, starting with parking. We replace broken parking machines, fragmented software, and manual, labor-intensive operations with a unified, data-rich operating system for parking real estate. We handle everything it takes to run and optimize a parking asset: payments, dynamic pricing, enforcement, license plate recognition, analytics, and more. By building all of our technology in-house, we deliver a better experience for drivers and real-time visibility and revenue increases for real estate owners.
AirGarage works with national real-estate leaders and technology companies to optimize parking facilities. We use data such as real-time occupancy, events, weather, driver behavior, and competitor pricing to bring true intelligence to owners’ assets. We are investing to make the physical world legible to a digital system: cameras, sensors, and software generate real-time data to optimize performance at each property.
The Role As our first Head of Finance, you’ll be the hands-on builder who turns a solid foundation into a high-leverage finance function. You’ll partner with founders and leadership across product, operations, sales, and engineering to sharpen how we plan, decide, and execute as we scale.
This role involves owning our forward-looking model, managing unit economics across hundreds of locations, upgrading systems from scrappy to scalable (e.g., QuickBooks → ERP), cap table management, vendor negotiations, investor readiness, and the legal/G&A items that enable the leadership team to focus on product and customers. You will help shape processes, systems, and culture to drive AirGarage’s growth.
What You Will Do Own the model: Maintain and improve a driver-based, forward-looking model with scenarios, stress tests, and clear levers for leadership.
Unit economics: Track and improve margins and P&Ls by location; analyze by cohort/region; collaborate with Operations to increase contribution margin.
Data-driven decisions: Build budget vs. actuals and KPI dashboards to inform daily leadership decisions.
Finance stack upgrade: Lead the transition from QuickBooks to a scalable ERP; rationalize chart of accounts and close processes.
Cap table & equity operations: Manage Carta hygiene, option grants, refreshes, and approvals.
Investor & board readiness: Maintain consistent metrics definitions, a clean data room, and monthly/quarterly reporting.
Vendor spend & commercial rigor: Identify cost drivers, renegotiate terms, and standardize templates to scale.
Compensation & leveling: Align comp philosophy and headcount planning with goals and runway.
Legal/G&A stewardship: Coordinate contract reviews, insurance, and office operations; engage external counsel as needed.
Capital strategy & banking: Maintain cash forecasts, evaluate debt options, and plan for audits as we grow.
Build leverage: Create ROI templates and decision frameworks to help teams move quickly with financial discipline.
What You Need Built-from-scratch experience: Early finance hire at a high-growth company; owned models, closed books, and led audits.
Hands-on operator: Able to switch between strategy and detailed execution; comfortable with ERP mapping and board-ready scenarios.
Modeling + judgment: Driver-based modeling, scenario analysis, and cohort economics with practical focus.
Systems & process builder: Experience moving from QuickBooks to ERP and designing a chart of accounts.
Story + numbers: Clear communicator who translates complexity into concise narratives for executives, the board, banks, and investors.
Commercial and vendor acumen: Experience reviewing terms and renegotiating to improve unit economics.
People partnership: Support for comp design, leveling, and workforce planning.
Bias for action: Move fast, measure results, and ship with financial discipline; finance supports quick, informed decisions.
Strongly preferred: Multi-location or revenue-share exposure, hardware/inventory familiarity, ownership of legal/G&A functions, and experience leading first audits.
Why this role may not be for you Please review this upfront. This job is hard and requires long hours in a lean Finance/Accounting team. If you’re seeking a large team or a fixed playbook, this may not be the right fit.
You want a big team on day one.
You expect a perfect playbook while systems are being upgraded.
You don’t love complexity—our business involves hundreds of locations and nuanced revenue dynamics.
You only want to analyze; you should be ready to implement ERP, clean data, and build dashboards.
You’re uncomfortable owning adjacent G&A and supporting non-finance functions.
Important note AirGarage is remote-first with ~6 weeks of travel per year for offsites, launches, and onboarding. The rest of the year is remote in US time zones with attendance at in-person events expected.
