Job Title: Health and Safety Manager Salary: $118K-136K (Based on experience and education) Overview RSI is a dynamic group of companies that has provided services to major federal clients and Fortune 500 engineering and construction companies since 1996. The Health and Safety Manager (HSM) supports the HSE Director at the corporate, program, and project level to ensure that company, Federal, State, and local policies and procedures are implemented and followed regarding health, safety, and environmental matters. The HSM develops project safety plans including project-specific Accident Prevention Plans, Health and Safety Plans, and general Activity/Job Hazards Analyses, identifies and evaluates potential hazards, and plans actions to control hazards to protect personnel, property, and the environment. The HSM conducts audits to assess the effectiveness of the safety program at the project level. Projects are typically for Federal clients including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the U.S. Navy, and the U.S. Department of Energy. Responsibilities Development of project safety plans based on company and regulatory policies and procedures. Setting appropriate safety standards and implementing these standards. Designating proper personal protective equipment (PPE) levels with the assistance of the HSE Director and ensuring required PPE is available. Conducting corporate and site-specific safety training for employees and managing the learning management system. Tracking and managing employee involvement in the medical monitoring program. Performing site safety audits to ensure the implementation of project plans and corporate safety procedures. Arranging for necessary industrial hygiene monitoring equipment and implementation on project sites as required. Investigating accidents to perform root cause analyses and reporting. Tracking safety metrics and reporting key performance indicators to the HSE Director. Answering employee questions regarding the Health and Safety Program. Providing feedback to the HSE Director on the effectiveness of the Health and Safety Program and recommendations for improvements. Experience/Education Ten (10) or more years of experience in environmental remediation, construction, or general industry safety. Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP). Board for Global EHS Credentialing (BGC) Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) required. Institute of Hazardous Materials Management (IHMM) Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) preferred. In-depth knowledge of OSHA standards and ACGIH guidelines. Experience with USACE Safety and Health Requirements Manual (EM385-1-1). OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training with yearly updates; OSHA 8-hour Supervisor training; OSHA-30 hour training (OSHA 500 preferred). First-aid, CPR, BBP, and AED training (certified trainer preferred). Experience conducting exposure monitoring/air sampling. Proficient computer skills with ability to electronically track and document. Ability to interact with clients and regulatory agency personnel. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Proactive communication skills. Conflict-resolution and problem-solving abilities. Clear and concise communication in writing and verbally. Diplomatic or firm when necessary. Detail-oriented with ability to work autonomously. Ability to manage assigned tasks with confidence and ease. Ability to prioritize and organize assignments. Self-starter capable of adapting to changing conditions. Ability to work under pressure and manage conflicting demands. Knowledge of human resource policies and procedures. Working Conditions Maintain professional certifications and participate in baseline, annual, and exit HAZWOPER medical surveillance exams. Attend annual 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher training. Ability and medical clearance to wear a respirator. Complete continuing education related to safety and health annually. Work locations will be a mix of office and project sites, indoors and outdoors; hybrid/travel position.
