About the Role Planet is looking for a strategic Industry Marketing Manager to help grow our business in the Defense and Intelligence sector. In this role, you will work closely with stakeholders from across the global Defense and Intelligence business group to drive demand for our AI-powered solutions among government audiences worldwide. This role sits on the Product, Industry and Partner Marketing team and is responsible for developing and maintaining resources that resonate with military, defense and national intelligence audiences. On a day-to-day basis, you will deeply understand customer challenges, determine effective engagement strategies, and arm sales and marketing stakeholders with the right messaging, content, and competitive insights. This unique role offers the opportunity to directly shape our global defense and intelligence narrative. You\'ll have the autonomy to determine priorities, deciding not only which projects to pursue, but also how to craft and deliver the messaging. As a go-to resource for cross-functional teams, you\'ll work closely with sales and guide key marketing functions to ensure we tell compelling stories across diverse content formats and channels. This role gives you the chance to market groundbreaking data products and AI-powered solutions built on our unique near-daily Earth scan, with your work being used by internal stakeholders at all levels and seen by senior military leaders worldwide. The ideal candidate can rapidly grasp technical concepts and develop simple and effective narratives that resonate with our military and defense audiences. This role is expected to routinely present internally and externally at events and webinars, and should be adept at public speaking and evangelizing Planet’s mission and defense solutions. This is a full-time, hybrid role which will require you to work from our San Francisco or Washington D.C. office, 3 days per week. Impact You'll Own Grow the market for our unique AI-powered solutions that detect threats across globally dispersed military, commercial sites, and open water Support new GTM initiatives (product launches, solution development, partnerships); assess gaps and identify opportunities for market expansion Ensure we bring compelling positioning and messaging to military and defense audiences Produce and maintain a portfolio of industry specific marketing assets and sales enablement tools (presentations, data sheets, demos, battlecards, etc.) Partner with sales to strategize on account-specific marketing programs and content to support pipeline growth and expansion Work closely with broader marketing teams (growth, regional, customer, creative, and communications) to execute industry and account-based marketing campaigns Host customer-facing webinars Collaborate with technical teams to create interactive demos and narratives that showcase product value to be used for trade shows, industry events, and sales outreach Work with Partner Sales and Marketing to support co-marketing efforts with strategic partners What You Bring Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree 6+ years of product, solutions or industry marketing Experience working within the military or defense sector Track record positioning and marketing B2G/enterprise products Exceptional listening and influence skills Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills Creative and analytical thinking skills; ability to synthesize information Excellent attention to detail Experience partnering with product, sales, and executive stakeholders and communicating across leadership Excellent organizational skills, self-starter with ability to collaborate across departments What Makes You Stand Out Experience working with international sales teams Active, current, or previously held security clearance Application Deadline December 3, 2025 by 11:59 PM PST Benefits While Working at Planet These offerings are dependent on employment type and geographical location, based upon applicable law or company policy. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives (bonus and equity). The final salary range is determined by job related experience, skills and location. The range displays our typical hiring range for new hire salaries in US locations only.
