You’ll lead EVERY’s legal team reporting to the COO. You will have the opportunity to build your team from scratch while working with existing outside counsel. We’re excited for you to provide legal guidance across functions and develop strategies for managing IP, contracts, and strategic partnerships in manufacturing and commercial areas. Responsibilities: Serve as lead counsel on all legal and regulatory matters including commercial contracts, employment, and intellectual property. Identify and manage external counsel and consultants. Review, draft, and advise on technology and commercial agreements. Support contract negotiations with strategic partners on complex commercial and technology matters. Develop legal strategies aligned with business priorities, especially in intellectual property and regulatory areas. Advise leadership on legal issues, risks, and risk mitigation strategies. Assist with fundraising due diligence and transaction documentation. Build a best-in-class legal function, defining roles, responsibilities, and hiring plans. Handle other special projects relevant to a rapidly scaling company and team. Requirements: Passionate about our mission to eliminate factory farms. Licensed to practice law, preferably in California (member of the bar or Registered In-House Counsel). 5+ years of legal practice experience, at a top-tier law firm or in-house at a startup. Practical knowledge in areas such as intellectual property, employment, and commercial transactions (food regulation experience is a plus). Deep understanding of deal structures and IP licensing models. Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing multiple priorities effectively. Capable of working under pressure, meeting deadlines, and adapting to rapid growth. The company is headquartered in South San Francisco and may consider hybrid or remote work.
