Interim Senior-Level Controller – Professional Services (Consulting Role)
Location: Hybrid – Washington, DC
Duration: Ongoing Project-Based Assignment

Our client, a well-regarded professional services firm, is seeking a seasoned Senior-Level Controller Consultant to provide hands-on support to their in-house accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance leader with professional services and time & billing expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead monthly close activities, including journal entries and full G/L oversight (excluding cash)

• Manage and improve the client billing process, including consultant accruals

• Perform and review reconciliations across all accounts except cash

• Oversee project profitability reporting and analysis

• Collaborate with the project accountant and A/P-payroll staff to streamline operations

• Ensure accurate financial reporting and maintain compliance with internal processes

• Adapt quickly to systems; experience with Deltek Vantagepoint a plus (not required)

• Communicate effectively across departments; maintain a professional, solutions-focused approach

Qualifications:

• Prior experience in a professional services firm with time and billing systems

• Strong financial systems knowledge (beyond QuickBooks)

• Deltek Vantagepoint experience preferred

• CPA preferred

• Excellent communication and leadership skills

• Flexible, collaborative, and hands-on working style
