What You Will Do As the Lead AI Engineer, you will take end-to-end ownership of a flagship AI product—a specialized agent designed to streamline complex integrations. You’ll play both a hands-on technical role and a strategic one, helping shape product direction, architecture, and execution. Key responsibilities include: Leading development of AI-powered integration agents from scratch Designing system architecture and ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance Gathering requirements from internal stakeholders and shaping product direction Driving hands-on implementation and technical decision-making Coordinating across engineering and product teams to ensure smooth execution Managing code quality, test coverage, documentation, and technical debt Potentially growing and leading a small team as the product scales Ideal Candidate Background Proven experience building and deploying AI agents or applications on top of large language models (LLMs) Strong background in backend software engineering and systems design Practical experience with APIs, integrations, and developer tools Ability to take full product ownership—requirements, architecture, and execution—without heavy product management support Startup experience, especially at early-stage companies, where autonomy and speed are essential Strong communication skills for working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders Preferred Experience building specialized AI agents (e.g., OpenAI Agent, Lovable, or similar projects) Track record of building developer-facing products or integration platforms Familiarity with TypeScript (or willingness to work in it) A history of shipping impactful side projects in AI/automation Ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous, early-stage environments Compensation and Benefits Salary: $200,000 – $300,000 base Equity: 0.5% – 1% ownership in the company Remote-first culture with full flexibility and autonomy Significant impact and ownership over a flagship product Backing from leading venture funds and founders in AI and SaaS Opportunity to join a rapidly growing team at a formative stage, with substantial career growth potential This is a rare opportunity to take full ownership of building a cutting-edge AI product from scratch at a high-growth startup.
