Network Security Engineer
The Opportunity
Are you looking for an opportunity to share your experience in managing Next Generation Firewalls, security appliances, and Cloud network security controls in support of government agencies. As a systems security and network security engineer, you can identify the tools, systems, and applications needed to assess vulnerabilities and recommend the best solution and security strategy. We need your experience to design, implement, and optimize firewall rule sets following best practices as well as troubleshoot and resolve firewall, routing, and DNS-related issues.
On our team, you’ll troubleshoot and analyze complex challenges for customers using your knowledge of Palo Alto Next Generation Firewalls and AWS infrastructure. You’ll use your curiosity for technology and market trends to further research and develop security solutions. Using your knowledge and experience in Palo Alto and AWS and networking, you’ll assess security threats and implement infrastructure controls.
In this role, you’ll closely impact the security operations related to protecting investors from fraud and unfair business practices. With mentoring, challenging hands-on problem-solving, and opportunities to learn new tools and skills, we focus on growing as a team to make the best solutions for our customers.

What You’ll Work On
Develop relationships quickly and easily with other teams, communicating the complexities of security with a wide variety of audiences, including senior management.
Implement infrastructure and cyber security controls, including enhanced detection and vulnerability capabilities and improved event correlation in large enterprises.
Perform risk and vulnerability assessments in network, system, and application areas, and leverage big data analytics and traditional security event types to identify advanced threats or indicators of compromise.

You Have:
2+ years of experience in firewall engineering
Experience with Palo Alto Networks firewalls and tools
Experience with troubleshooting in networking and DNS
Knowledge of cloud networking, including within AWS, such as security groups, transit gateways, and VPCs
Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements
HS diploma or GED
Nice If You Have:
Experience with Palo Alto SASE technologies
Experience with FireEye or Trellix
Experience with Microsoft Defender
Experience with Linux
Experience with Cybersecurity forensics tools and methodologies
Ability to apply NIST, federal, and DoD guidelines, policies, directives, and memos as they relate to network security
Possession of excellent analytical and collaboration skills
Bachelor's degree
Computing Environment Certifications, including Palo Alto and AWS
Vetting

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $77,600.00 to $176,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
