Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced General Counsel to join our leadership team on a part-time basis. This hybrid role is based in Dallas, TX and offers flexibility while requiring a strong on-the-ground presence for key matters. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in futures trading and regulatory compliance, specifically with CFTC and NFA rules, to help guide our firm’s strategic growth and protect our business operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary legal advisor to the executive team.
• Ensure compliance with CFTC, NFA, and other relevant regulatory bodies.
• Draft, review, and negotiate key contracts, agreements, and policies.
• Advise on risk management, licensing, and trading program structures.
• Oversee dispute resolution, regulatory inquiries, and litigation as needed.
• Work cross-functionally with compliance, risk, and operations teams.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school; active license to practice law in the U.S.
• 5+ years of legal experience, with a strong background in futures trading, derivatives, or commodities law.
• In-depth knowledge of CFTC/NFA regulations and enforcement.
• Experience working with proprietary trading firms, brokerages, or financial institutions preferred.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently in a part-time capacity while engaging effectively with leadership.
