Summary of Role:
The Patient Advocacy Director will be responsible for developing and leading patient advocacy and engagement strategies across the Lantheus portfolio. They will establish long-term and strategic alliances with key patient groups. They will connect various internal functions - such as Medical Affairs, Access, Commercial, R&D - to patients and will represent the patient voice internally.
Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
Serve as the primary connect with advocacy groups and patient communities
Establish and leverage strategic relationships with key Patient Advocacy Groups (PAGs)
Identify mutually beneficial opportunities between Lantheus and PAGs particularly related to efforts around medical/scientific, regulatory, and policy priorities.
Develop, with internal partners, compliant patient information that educates and informs on relevant disease states that will result in meaningful discussions between patients and their healthcare providers
Provide insights to inform the Brand Team development of educational materials for patient engagement and patient support services that address unmet needs within the patient community in the US
Bring the "voice of the patient" and understanding of the external healthcare environment to internal teams
Develop and implement strategic patient advocacy plans and activities by collaborating with cross-functional partners including medical, commercial/marketing, legal, compliance, communications/PR, and market access.
Leads external third-party agency implementation of patient advocacy and stakeholder initiatives, including on-going reporting, analysis and evaluation of programs. Collaborate and lead stakeholder identification, outreach and collaboration in support of business priorities and needs.
Oversee grant and sponsorship requests
Understand and integrate regulatory, reputational, and commercial considerations as appropriate into all workflows, and ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations in all program planning and execution.
Ensure key activities are implemented in a timely manner and that activities are prioritized in line with strategic focus of LMI and the organization.
Understands and works fluidly with other disciplines to ensure communication programs integrate with other functions (medical, commercial, legal, and regulatory) and that there is consistency of messaging and strategy.
Essential Capabilities/Competencies:
Demonstrated ability to develop strategies aligned to overall business goals and clear metrics to measure success
Ability to build relationships at a high-level with patient advocacy groups, professional associations and other stakeholders
Ability to demonstrate impact on patient care by working in a cross functional environment and to handle multiple tasks
Confident personal presence and experience managing and hosting live activities/programs
Results driven and exercises exceptional judgment
Routine overnight travel based on business need and frequent weekend work may be required
Minimum Skills, Experience and Education
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree required, an advance degree would be a plus.
Minimum of 10 years of related experience in industry positions, experience with patient advocacy organizations and professional societies.
Minimum 5 years of patient advocacy experience
Knowledge of the legal and regulatory compliance environment impacting the advocacy and patient communities and pharma/bio industry
Passion for patients and research
Strong leadership skills and sense of teamwork
Ability to work effectively in and across the management structure, and to collaborate and contribute to highly functioning and geographically diffuse teams
Strong planning and organization skills with the ability to set priorities effectively and efficiently, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders simultaneously
Excellent strategic planning abilities
Excellent communications and presentation skills; and ability to write well and to present information to internal and external audiences in a clear and concise manner
Preferred:
Experience in hospital-based and clinic-based products
MBA
Experience with PET imaging, Neurology, Urology and/or Oncology
Clinical and/or technical discipline knowledge (e.g. an in-depth understanding of medical imaging modalities, related disease states, treatment paradigms, and future trends)
