This description outlines a contract role for a Physical Design Engineer working with a design team to support mobile applications. Description You will be working on the physical design of leading edge designs, taking designs from synthesized gates to the delivery of GDS for tapeout. The role requires extensive knowledge of place and route and tapeout sessions. You should have 5+ years of recent experience with Synopsys physical design tools (ICC2) and strong place-and-route skills, as well as strong tapeout experience. The role involves handling multiple blocks for 28nm, 14nm, and 8nm processes, strong Calibre DRC/LVS experience, Star-RC extraction, timing and functional ECO, and low-power implementation. Hands-on experience with TCL scripting, debugging, and developing layout automation features and macros in layout-entry tools is expected. You will also be responsible for working on timing and functional ECOs, and maintaining layout automation scripts. Responsibilities Execute physical design tasks from synthesis to tapeout delivery, including place-and-route, timing closure, and ECOs. Manage multiple IP blocks across 28nm, 14nm, and 8nm nodes. Perform Calibre DRC/LVS checks and Star-RC extraction. Develop and maintain TCL scripts and layout automation features. Collaborate with design teams to ensure power and performance targets are met. Qualifications 5+ years of relevant experience. Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field. Experience with Synopsys physical design tools (ICC2) and strong place-and-route skills. Proficiency with Calibre DRC/LVS; Star-RC extraction; and low-power implementation. TCL scripting experience; strong debugging skills; ability to develop workarounds for tool issues. Experience developing and maintaining layout automation features and macros.
