OverviewNorthrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add a Principal OR Senior Principal Field Service Engineer – Network and Communications to join our team at RAAF Base Tindal in Australia. This position supports the MQ-4C Triton Program within the Avionics Integration Organization.Location: Australia; Travel: up to 10% of the time; Clearance: DoD Top Secret; Relocation: No relocation assistance.ResponsibilitiesProvide real time support for flight operations and maintenance addressing any issues related to communications and networking, including fault isolation, remediation, and resolution.Perform field integration, troubleshooting, and repair of communications and data link systems in a military flight test environment, including flightline, hangar, and command-and-control centers.Adhere to checklists and procedures to ensure repeated success; provide redlines to procedures when necessary.Communicate complex technical issues to local support, the Degrader Action Cell (DAC), Main Operation Bases (MOBs), and Responsible Engineers (REs).Support and lead air crew engagement for proper techniques in solving complex technical problems that arise during operations.Assist with trend analysis as needed for Responsible Engineers (REs).Perform or support review and analysis of supplier design data and define functional test requirements including acceptance, qualification, and system integration.Responsible for testing, maintenance, and integration of communications and networks equipment, including radio terminals, software loads, switches, routers, and firewalls required to support ground and flight test operations.Work with system admins, maintainers, and onsite personnel to troubleshoot and repair internal operational issues.QualificationsBasic Qualifications – Principal Field Service EngineerBachelor’s Degree in a STEM field with 5 years of related engineering experience; OR Master’s in STEM with 3 years; OR PhD in STEM with 1 year.Ability to obtain and maintain DoD 8140 approved IAT Level II (or higher) certification (e.g., Security+CE, CCNP, CISSP).Competence in Linux, troubleshooting, engineering documents, tools and equipment.Familiarity with communications/networking operations.Ability to support assignment at RAAF Base Tindal, Australia for a minimum of 18 months.Ability to pass a new hire physical if required due to OCONUS location.Active DoD Top Secret clearance (with background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation).Ability to obtain and maintain SCI access, CI Polygraph, and SAP clearance (SAP required within a reasonable time to meet business needs).Basic Qualifications – Senior Principal Field Service EngineerBachelor’s Degree in a STEM field with 8 years of related engineering experience; OR Master’s in STEM with 6 years; OR PhD in STEM with 4 years.Same certification and security clearance requirements as Principal level (IAT II or higher, SCI, CI Poly, SAP).Competence in Linux, troubleshooting, engineering documents, tools and equipment.Familiarity with communications/networking operations.Ability to support assignment at RAAF Base Tindal, Australia for a minimum of 18 months.Ability to pass a new hire physical if required due to OCONUS location.Preferred Qualifications For Both LevelsActive DoD 8140 IAT Level II or higher certification (e.g., CCNA Security, Security+CE, CCNP, CISSP).Technical expertise in network and computer hardware/software interconnection and interfacing (routers, firewalls, switches).Experience with test equipment (network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators).CCNA certification; experience with IP networks, VoIP, Information Assurance (IA), satellite and LOS RF communications, control interfaces, and co-site interference.Operations and Maintenance experience at a field site.Compensation and BenefitsPrimary Salary Range: $82,900.00 - $124,300.00; Secondary Salary Range: $103,200.00 - $154,800.00. Salary offers depend on scope of responsibilities, candidate experience, education, skills, and market conditions. Overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses may apply where eligible.
