We’re looking for an experienced Principal Software Development Engineer to join our Engineering Team. This role is for San Jose, California. Reporting to the Director Software Engineering, you will be responsible for: Qualifying and expanding Zero Trust Branch hardware SKUs Design and optimize system infrastructure to support high-performance networking and security applications, leveraging expertise in system engineering principles. Apply in-depth knowledge of Linux kernel internals, disk partitioning, file systems, and kernel networking features to evaluate and enhance platform performance and reliability. Develop and maintain high-speed data paths, including kernel-space and user-space implementations such as VPP, to enable efficient data transmission. Utilize proficiency in C programming to contribute to Linux kernel development, employing tools like Git, Make, and other industry-standard utilities. What We’re Looking for (Minimum Qualifications) Extensive experience in qualifying hardware and optimizing system infrastructure for high-performance networking and security applications. In-depth knowledge of Linux kernel internals, including disk partitioning, file systems, kernel networking features, and their impact on platform performance and reliability. Proficiency with high-speed data paths, encompassing both kernel data paths and user space data paths such as VPP. Over 10 years of software development and testing experience, including 5+ years specializing in networking, security products, and embedded systems. Strong background in system engineering with a proven ability to design and enhance high-performance systems.
