The Revenue Analyst will be responsible for developing and managing client-specific budgets related to the Patent Department’s portfolio work, ensuring accurate financial forecasting and payment predictability. This role collaborates with client teams to optimize retainer billing structures and monitors budget adherence to mitigate payment risk. This position can be a hybrid work schedule. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Develop and maintain client-specific monthly budgets tied to Patent Department portfolio work. Revise budgets in real time to reflect changes in assumptions, workload, or scope. Assess client payment history to determine appropriate use of retainer-based billing structures. Collaborate with client teams to structure retainer model to mitigate payment risk. Monitor work performed against budgeted expectations and flag variance for internal stakeholders. Support client conversations with financial modeling and reporting tied to patent prosecution cost forecasts. Ensure payment predictability for high-risk clients. Work closely with colleagues in Accounting, FP&A, FinTech, LPM and Pricing to provide seamless Finance Department support to Members and Departments. Perform related duties as assigned or directed by supervisor. Maintain compliance with all firm policies and procedures. Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s degree preferred Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a high-volume, automated law firm finance role, including billing and collections * patent experience preferred . Strong financial analysis, critical thinking, and complex financial risk evaluation skills Experience with budgeting tools, e-billing systems, and legal finance software (e.g., Aderant) Ability to review and interpret company financial statements Proven experience developing, managing, and tracking budgets Skilled in building and updating spend forecasts Strong skills in budget management, variance reporting, and compliance Knowledge of financial policies, procedures, and use of accounting and collections software Familiarity with law firm pricing models and profitability analysis Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook) Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external clients Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service. Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices The primary location for this job posting is in Palo Alto, but other locations may be listed. The actual base pay offered will depend upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to the selected candidate’s qualifications, years of relevant experience, level of education, professional certifications and licenses, and work location. The anticipated pay range for this position is as follows: San Francisco and Silicon Valley: $81,600 - $110,400 per year Austin, Boston, Boulder, District of Columbia, Los Angeles, New York, San Diego, Seattle, and Wilmington: $73,100 - $98,900 per year Salt Lake City and all other locations: $65,450 - $88,550 per year The compensation for this position may include a discretionary year-end merit bonus based on performance.
