Senior Asset Manager Location: San Francisco. Hybrid.

Job Status: Exempt, Full-Time
Compensation: $110,000.00 to $130,000.00 per year, DOE; medical, dental, vision & retirement plan
Summary: Under the supervision of the Director of Asset Management, the Senior Asset Manager will maintain Mission Housing’s assets and develop strategies for the multifamily unit. Responsibilities include overseeing third-party property management, supervising Asset Managers, and leading projects related to the management of the portfolio of apartments and residential buildings.
The goal is to optimize portfolio performance by balancing mid- to long-term strategies with short-term projects. The role involves providing financial, physical, regulatory, and administrative services for Mission Housing’s multifamily communities, working independently, and reporting to the Director with recommendations.
Essential Functions: The Senior Asset Manager will exercise discretion and judgment in:
Monitoring property management activities and reporting significant issues to the Director.
Leading and monitoring lease-up processes for new constructions and rehabs.
Recommending capital improvements and energy efficiency retrofits.
Managing LIHTC capital accounts and analyzing tax implications.
Collaborating with development and finance teams on rehab and re-syndication projects.
Representing ownership concerns and coordinating with property and project managers to ensure development goals are met.
Creating and refining reporting systems and databases.
Supervising Asset Managers and managing their performance and development.
Reviewing financial statements and budgets.
Ensuring properties meet financial and regulatory goals.
Contributing to financial statements and surplus cash analysis.
Representing Mission Housing to stakeholders and community members.
Developing asset management plans.
Performing site inspections and overseeing physical risk management.
Managing insurance and physical specifications.
Leading due diligence on new acquisitions and making recommendations.
Researching legal and financial documents to identify constraints.
Negotiating agreements and facilitating approval processes.
Preparing reports for investors/lenders.
Handling other tasks related to asset management and community activities.
Minimum Qualifications: Experience in affordable housing with multiple funding layers.
Experience with Tax Credit applications and management.
Experience with funding from HCD, HUD, and other sources.
3-5 years in real estate finance or asset management, preferably in affordable or multifamily housing.
Financial analysis, budgeting, and regulatory compliance skills.
Bachelor's degree in related fields; CHAM preferred.
Ability to negotiate independently.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Proficiency in MS Office and property management software like YARDI.
Experience supervising staff (at least 5 years).
Physical Demands: Regular sitting, handling, reaching, talking, and hearing; occasional standing, walking, driving, and lifting up to 20 pounds.
Work Environment: Typically quiet to moderate noise; construction sites may be noisy. Reasonable accommodations available.
