Senior Associate, Accounting

The Senior Associate will report to the Corporate Accounting Manager and support core accounting functions, with a primary focus on accounts payable and related month-end responsibilities. This role will also contribute to ad hoc projects, audits, and process improvements to help scale our growing business. This position offers exposure to multiple areas of accounting and finance and requires frequent collaboration with cross-functional teams such as Investment Operations and Finance. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, curious, and proactive—someone who not only executes tasks with precision but also looks for ways to improve processes and strengthen controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform month-end tasks related to accounts payable and receivable, expense management, fixed assets, and cash accounts.
- Prepare monthly reconciliations for bank and general ledger accounts.
- Maintain and monitor SOX controls related to the general ledger; ensure compliance with internal control requirements.
- Ensure adherence to the company\'s expense reporting and capitalization policies.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Support ad hoc projects and audits as needed.
Requirements
- 2-3+ years of operational accounting experience, ideally within investment or asset management.
- Solid knowledge of US GAAP and practical application of accounting standards.
- Hands-on experience with SOX compliance and internal controls.
- Prior experience with Accounts Payable and reconciliations.
- Proficiency with accounting systems (e.g., Sage Intacct, SAP Concur, BILL.com) and intermediate Excel skills.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills; effective collaborator across teams.
- Interest or experience in leveraging AI tools in accounting workflows is a plus.
Education
- Bachelor\'s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- CPA or equivalent certification preferred but not required.
Location: San Francisco (Financial District, Hybrid: Tue-Thu in office)
Compensation: $85-115k base + bonus + excellent benefits
