Our Senior Developer Advocates are technical leaders and mentors that anchor our team. They own projects from beginning to end, facilitating collaboration and enabling Datadog's community to solve real-world problems. With a focus on Generative AI (GenAI), this role will enable our community of engineers to build better, more observable, and more reliable AI-powered systems. What You’ll Do:
Act as a subject matter expert for GenAI on behalf of the Datadog advocacy and engineering teams.
Create technical content by building demos, public speaking, blogging, and creating documentation and webinars to build Datadog’s reputation as a leader in the space.
Partner with and coach internal product and customer engineering teams on effective public communication and presentations for the work they do
Contribute to the product through deep feedback , including bug reporting, identifying usability challenges, and suggesting product enhancements.
Identify customer pain points and gaps in the GenAI space and communicate these internally to advocate for new features, integrations, and fixes.
Explore new problem areas to deliver prototypes, proofs-of-concept, and open-source contributions that benefit the community.
Build awareness of Datadog as a technical leader within the GenAI communities you engage.
Who You Are:
We are looking for a trusted expert with specialization in at least one of the following domains. You are not expected to be an expert in all of these areas, but rather bring a depth of knowledge in one or more:
Generative AI: You have deep knowledge of the current landscape, including Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), prompt engineering, AI agents, Model Context Protocol (MCP), and vector databases.
AI Infrastructure: You have deep experience with the underlying hardware and software for AI, including GPU/TPU management, distributed training frameworks (e.g., Ray, PyTorch FSDP), and high-performance networking.
Data for AI: You specialize in the data foundation of ML, including data engineering pipelines, feature stores, data quality and validation, and building systems for data-centric AI development.
You have:
10+ years experience as a software developer, SRE, or other practitioner; including building and maintaining production systems
3+ years of experience as an advocate and / or equivalent experience e.g. skilled at reaching software developers across multiple channels, such as written content, conference talks, leading workshops, live streaming or recording videos, contributing to open source, and participating in community events
You have publicly available writing samples, blog posts, demos, or recordings of presentations on technical topics
You are comfortable with at least 2 programming languages (eg Python, Go, Node.js, bash) and are familiar with modern infrastructure such as IaaS cloud services and containers
You enjoy self driven exploration and education on new technologies and languages
You have contributed to open-source projects in the AI/ML space.
You are an active member of AI/ML or MLOps communities.

Datadog offers a competitive salary and equity package, and may include variable compensation. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.
