Position Summary Orr Group is seeking a Senior Director, Campaigns to be the project lead for major fundraising campaign clients, managing strategy, execution, and day-to-day oversight within a team-based approach. Campaigns may range in size from $20 million to $1 billion+, including capital, endowment, and comprehensive efforts. The Senior Director will collaborate closely with client leadership and internal teams to optimize fundraising strategies and outcomes while contributing to the firm’s internal growth and expertise. While the primary focus of this role is on campaigns, the Senior Director may also be assigned to other fundraising-related projects as needed, supporting a range of strategic development initiatives for our client partners.
The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, an experienced project manager, and a strong relationship builder with expertise in high-net-worth donor engagement. They will collaborate with a team at Orr Group and work closely with client leadership, boards, and development teams to optimize fundraising efforts and ensure measurable impact.
Responsibilities Client Relationship Management
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, including leadership and Boards of Directors.
Build and manage strong client relationships, ensuring high-quality work and providing expert guidance throughout engagements.
Stay abreast of sector trends and share insights to help shape client strategies.
Facilitate engagement planning discussions to align client needs with Orr Group’s offerings and ensure clear expectations.
Partner with Orr Group Impact Officers and other internal colleagues to identify opportunities for contract renewals and expanded service offerings.
Oversee project scopes, timelines, and work plans, ensuring deliverables are met within scope, budget, and deadlines.
Campaign Planning and Implementation
Lead the development and execution of campaign strategies aligned with client goals and best practices.
Manage campaign planning processes, including feasibility studies, donor assessments, and pipeline analyses to inform strategy.
Oversee the implementation of capital, endowment, and comprehensive campaigns, ensuring timely execution and measurable success.
Project Team Management
Lead internal client engagement teams, setting strategic direction and overseeing workloads to ensure seamless execution.
Delegate responsibilities, maintain accountability for project outcomes, and ensure high-quality deliverables.
Manage team dynamics, addressing challenges and ensuring collaboration across teams.
Provide operational leadership to project teams, troubleshooting roadblocks and ensuring efficient workflow.
Mentor and coach junior staff, positioning them as key partners in campaign execution.
Organizational Leadership & Strategic Insight
Serve as a subject matter expert on fundraising campaigns, contributing to internal knowledge-sharing and best practices.
Engage in thought leadership through speaking engagements, published insights, and professional contributions to the sector.
Support business development efforts by participating in prospective client meetings, shaping tailored proposals, and identifying renewal and expansion opportunities.
Contribute to Orr Group’s broader strategic goals through internal initiatives, committees, or special projects.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree required.
10+ years of nonprofit fundraising experience, including direct involvement in large fundraising campaigns, with an understanding of capital, endowment, and comprehensive campaign strategies.
Demonstrated success in designing and executing donor strategies that drive significant philanthropic support.
Familiarity with planned and blended giving strategies is a plus.
Experience engaging and partnering with nonprofit leadership, boards, and committees.
Understanding of nonprofit financial principles and the ability to interpret donor and organizational financial data.
Deep knowledge of the philanthropic sector and fundraising and nonprofit best practices.
Familiarity with AI-powered fundraising or productivity tools—or a strong interest in learning.
Exceptional written and verbal communication with the ability to distill complex content for sophisticated audiences across a range of formats.
Strong facilitation skills and comfort leading strategic conversations with internal and external stakeholders.
Proven leadership abilities, with a demonstrated track record guiding teams toward shared goals.
Excellent project management and organizational skills; able to manage multiple clients and priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Flexibility to work varying hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed, to meet deadlines.
CFRE, CSPG, CFM, or other relevant accreditations from the Association of Fundraising Professionals or the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners are a plus.

Additional Information Location
Orr Group offices are located in Washington, DC, and New York City, and candidates must be based in either metropolitan area. Our hybrid policy requires staff to spend at least 60% of their working time in an Orr Group office or at client sites.
Travel Requirements
Senior Directors may manage a combination of regional and national clients. Depending on client needs, this role may sometimes require up to 40% of business travel.
Hiring Range
The hiring range for this role is $135,000 - $155,000, with annual bonus potential of up to $35,000.
