Reporting to the Senior Manager of Network Engineering, the Network Developer will be part of a team that is designing, implementing and maintaining the DigitalOcean network from the Internet edge to the hypervisor connections. Our networks need to be massively scalable, and enable systems agility, while providing our hundreds of thousands of customers with the most stable platform. We work with other infrastructure and engineering teams to ensure new products and features have scalable network architectures and will provide the performance our customers require.If you’re looking for a Network Developer role to challenge your skills and be rewarding and fulfilling, while working with top of the line equipment and managing a large network with huge scaling requirements and modern design, this job is for you.What You'll Be DoingProviding hands-on technical design and engineering for network-related tools and systemsWorking with networking-focused software engineers to develop/maintain our network automation and monitoring platform SDN solution and integrationDeveloping and contributing to open source projects relating to network and platform engineeringHelping to maintain good code quality by providing guidance during code reviewsDeveloping and maintaining network automation solutionsWhat We'll Expect From YouBA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent degreeKnowledge of network engineering and experience working with vendors such as Juniper, Cisco or AristaKnowledge of and demonstrated ability in at least one of the following languages: Go, PythonExpertise with LinuxExperience with CI/CD, containers and/or virtualization, web servers, and databasesHands-on experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or the ELK stackExperience with automation frameworks (Salt preferred)Good knowledge of code versioning tools such as Git, and accustomed to multi-branches developmentBe either willing to relocate to or already based in at least one of the following locations: Austin, TX, Boston, MA, Denver, CO, Seattle, WA, San Francisco, CATechnologies We UseProgramming languages: Python, Go, BashTools: Salt, Ansible, NAPALM, NetBox, Prometheus, Kubernetes, Hasura GraphQLTechnologies and standards: IPFIX, OpenConfig, NETCONFWhy You’ll Like Working For Digital OceanWe innovate with purpose. The salary range for this position is between $130,000.00 - $175,000.00 based on market data, relevant years of experience, and skills. You may qualify for a bonus in addition to base salary; bonus amounts are determined based on company and individual performance.
