SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Sr. Designer, Environmental at OBE consistently delivers exceptional design workand can drive creative innovation within a team setting. They have expanded their understanding of multiple disciplines to offer a more holistic creative perspective in their experiential project work. They are experts in time management and regularly demonstrate an ability to project manage creative tasks and deliverables. Additionally, Senior Designers are comfortable with leading and directing other design team members and have developed basic design management skills that help both projects and people be increasingly successful.They bring passion and purpose to the work and inspire those around them.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
CONCEPTING: Integrate into projects early to offer design strategy, set standards, and guide the project to create excellent outcomes.Create working drawings, storyboards, layouts, mood boards, and mockups to evaluate and present environmental design ideas in initial project phases.
DESIGN: Create outstanding 3D (and 2D) designs to demonstrate concepts in support of a human-centered design approach and strategy related to the client, audience and project goals. Efficiently manage presentation decks, digital assets, print assets, and all other creative components on assigned projects to meet deadlines and exceed client expectations.
INSPIRE: Seek out inspiration and share insights with internal teams to help educate and inspire what is new and next in environmental design.
REFLECT + GROW: Uphold and even strengthen departmental design processes to help streamline, create efficiencies and establish quality control.
COMMUNICATION PRESENTATION: Present research, concepts and designs with polished and professional visual tools and verbal skills both internally, to project teams, and externally to clients. Understand larger company objectives and be an ambassador for the agency and the team.
INTERNAL COMMUNICATION: Coordinate with internal teams leading up to and during activations to ensure approved creative materials are delivered on a timely basis, always maintaining consistency and quality.
EXTERNAL COMMUNICATION: Coordinate with outside resources, including vendors, printers, and contractors as needed for completion of the design and build out. Visit fabrication shops and other partners to ensure quality of final experience elements.
MANAGEMENT: PROJECT & TIME MANAGEMENT: Work with cross-functional teams to establish and manage creative deliverable timelines, ensuring work is on-time and of high quality.
TEAM MANAGEMENT: Develop foundational design management skills by managing internal team members (Junior Designers, Interns, etc.), integrating them into agency processes, teaching them best practices, and offering ongoing critiques and insights.Coordinate with freelance or contract creatives, supporting their integration into the team and streamlining design deliverables for client when relevant.
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree in Product Design, Industrial Design, Interior Design, Environmental Design, Architecture, or similar discipline.
4+ yearsof industry/agency experience in environmental design for experiential, with a focus on creating interactive and functional branded spaces.
On-site event management and installation experience a plus.
Strong portfolio of creative work, including 2D + 3D designs for both digital + physical applications.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Exhibits excellent technical design skills and seeks to continually expand creative capabilities through growing expertise in tools + software,production design, concepting and strategic thinking. 3D + FAB: Skills in Sketchup (Vray, Podium), Vectorworks, AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, Studio 3D Max, Cinema 4D, or similar proficiency in 3D modeling software required. Demonstrates an understanding of production practices from print production, to fabrication, to on-site surveying and installation required.
2D + PRINT: Expertise in Adobe CC (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.). Demonstrates understanding of substrates + print techniques, print file prep, proofs, and print standards required. Experience with additional tools like After Effects, Figma, Adobe XD, etc. is a plus.
PRESENTATION: Keynote, PowerPoint, Google Slides, etc.
ADMIN: Microsoft Office, Google Docs, Dropbox, etc.
SOCIAL MEDIA: Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.
Demonstrates an understanding of production practices from print production, to fabrication, to on-site surveying and installation.
Has robust understanding of substrates + print techniques, print file prep, proofs, and print standards.
Interest in interactive digital experiences and software / processes is a plus (Unreal Engine, Unity, 3D Vista, volumetric capture, etc.)

Compensation Range: $80,000 - $120,000 annually. This is the pay range OBE believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on level of experience, relevant skills, professional certifications, market pay, and demand for the role. OBE reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. For this role, Benefits include: medical/dental/vision insurance, employer paid basic life and personal accident insurance.
