Role Overview We’re seeking a Senior Fullstack Engineer to join the Customer Experience team and help us build a world-class Customer Support platform. With Whatnot’s rapid growth, we face a high volume of complex support needs—covering technical, purchasing, and logistics issues for both buyers and sellers. Our team is responsible for resolving these quickly, reliably, and with high customer satisfaction.
As a team member, you’ll develop new user-facing experiences, scale internal infrastructure, and design intelligent automation to resolve thousands of customer issues per hour.
You’ll lead solutions end-to-end, translating ambiguous business problems into clear technical solutions, and driving delivery and experimentation. Your role involves creative problem-solving to balance development speed, product impact, and technical excellence.
Team members in this role should be within commuting distance of our hubs in San Francisco, Seattle, Los Angeles, or New York.
Qualifications 5+ years of full-time software engineering experience in high-growth startups.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Web & Backend Expertise: Proven experience building end-to-end high-scale product experiences as a full-stack engineer. Experience with Python on the backend, Next.js on web, and/or Postgres databases is a plus.
Ownership Mindset: Ability to own projects holistically from inception to production and beyond, shipping high-quality products rapidly.
Product Instinct: Skilled at translating user needs into effective technical solutions.
Problem Solving: Thrive in ambiguity and tackle challenging problems with creativity and autonomy.
Team Leadership: Proactively improve team environment and foster an inclusive, supportive culture.
Compensation & Benefits For US-based applicants: $185,000/year to $205,000/year + benefits + equity. Final salary depends on level, experience, skills, and expertise. This range includes base salary only, excluding benefits and equity.
