Senior Medical Science Liaisons (Sr. MSLs) are experienced MSLs with a proven track record in building and maintaining external stakeholder relationships and delivering on projects. Sr. MSLs engage with healthcare professionals, institutions, and payers in a non-promotional manner to support Medical strategy and patient outcomes. Sr. MSLs also coach and mentor other MSLs.

Main Responsibilities
Federal Account Responsibility: VHA, DHA
Develop long-term relationships with key federal customers at the Veterans Health Administration and Defense Health Agency. Collaborate with the aligned Medical Regional Strategic Account Director and Field Medical Head to lead Field Medical strategy for Federal Accounts and work with cross-functional partners to develop long-term strategy within assigned accounts/facilities.
External Stakeholder Engagement – (60%)
Build and sustain peer-to-peer relationships with healthcare professionals and institutions across federal systems at the facility level through scientific engagement and exchange.
Communicate science and collaborate effectively to positively shape patient care.
Understand KOL perspectives and adapt to remain relevant and valued by stakeholders.
Identify opportunities for mutual collaboration and contribute to strategic field Medical engagement plans aligned to CMP.
Communicate benefits, risks, appropriate use, and clinical aspects of the Vaccine portfolio in an accurate, fair, and balanced manner.
Generate insights and propose timely solutions, leading efforts on proposed solutions.
Supply data and observations, then lead data analysis and evaluation in the Insights Generation process.
Support the team with data analysis and escalation of critical insights.
Assist in developing federal account medical content to support external engagement activities including conferences.
Operate independently and support the federal account team in building healthcare stakeholder relationships across national, regional, and local levels.
Internal Communication/Collaboration (15%)
Collaborate with office and field Medical teams to shape and co-execute the CMP.
Lead projects, drive accountability, and deliver results within timelines with clear internal communication.
Develop and maintain an internal stakeholder network, including leadership teams.
Provide scientific and technical support for material development for internal and external stakeholders in line with policies.
Provide scientific support for internal functions such as commercial, market access, regulatory/PV, and R&D regarding trainings and updates.
People Leadership (10%)
Enhance MSL team effectiveness by coaching and mentoring the team using the Scientific Engagement Model and onboarding/training improvements.
Plan and execute complex Medical projects within time/resource constraints.
Data Generation (10%)
Identify data sources and develop partnerships for clinical studies (e.g., real-world evidence, IIS).
Support data generation and opportunities for further data collection:
Engage with clinical investigators to support company-sponsored trials.
Support investigator-sponsored studies in a compliant manner.
Support real-world evidence development according to local needs.
Internal Training and Education (5%)
Complete MSL onboarding and certification program.
Complete all MSL SOP trainings and other compliance trainings.
Apply and practice the Scientific Engagement Model and Insights process.
Continue to develop technical therapy area and soft skills.
Create an individual development plan aligned with career goals.
About You
Education/Experience/Certification
Basic Qualifications:
Advanced degree in Medical, scientific, or pharmacy field (MD, PhD, PharmD).
5+ years of healthcare experience in federal institutions or 3+ years’ customer-facing Medical experience.
Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to simplify complex topics; experience with multi-channel tools and digital communication from remote environments.
Demonstrated success in project management and mentoring/coaching MSLs or healthcare professionals in federal institutions.
Preferred Qualifications:
Military veteran or retired with military ID to access installations.
Established relationships with federal immunization leaders.
Understanding of clinical development and ability to evaluate protocols, reports, and publications.
Competencies
In-depth knowledge of the disease state, therapeutic area, vaccines portfolio, and pipeline.
Knowledge of pharmacovigilance and local regulatory processes affecting the Vaccine portfolio.
Strong Federal Account business acumen with experience building and executing Medical plans.
Integrity and ethics, upholding high standards.
