Senior Product Engineer
New Today
As a senior product engineer at Caplight, you'll work full stack on products from conception to delivery to customers. This is not a typical frontend engineering role — at times, in this position, you will also wear the hat of a designer or product manager. You'll work alongside a team of talented engineers, but will frequently collaborate with our co-founders, our designer, and our business development team to bridge the gap between ideas and code.
About Caplight :
Caplight is a seed-stage fintech company based in San Francisco building the future of the private markets. We operate a best-in-class data and trading platform for private tech company stock. Our vision is to make private market trading as easy as public stock trading. The customers we serve include many of the world's top banks, VCs, hedge funds, and other institutional asset managers. Our team is a small group of dedicated builders, and we pride ourselves on the quality and pace of our work. We're excited for you to join the team!
Role Responsibilities :
Architect and implement full-stack features: Design data models and build components (frontend & backend) to bring pages, features, and workflows to life.
UI Implementation: Implement pixel-perfect UI components in React & Tailwind.
Solutioning using Design-Thinking: Brainstorm creative solutions for customer problems or platform enhancements, involving sketching, wireframing, and user-flow diagramming.
Frontend project management: Break down product specs, Figma designs, or sales requests into clear engineering tasks, resolving ambiguities.
New technology exploration: Collaborate with our CTO to identify and evaluate new technologies or libraries, creating PoCs for team assessment.
About you :
Located in the SF Bay Area and willing to work in-person at least 3 days per week at 531 Howard St.
At least 2 years of experience leading the development of a software product from 0 to 1 in an early-stage startup or successful side project.
At least 6 years of professional experience in a full-stack or frontend-heavy role, with proficiency in Typescript, React, GraphQL, and NodeJS. Experience with Google Firebase, NextJS, and functional programming is a plus.
Visually strong with good design sense; may have a background as a designer.
Highly accountable, dependable, and capable of meeting tight deadlines.
Fast at development, contributing to a quick-moving team environment.
Strategic thinker with attention to detail, capable of big-picture planning and debugging.
Excellent project leadership and communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to non-technical team members and translate client requests into engineering tasks.
Positive, curious, passionate, and enthusiastic personality.
