We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer for the Loans Platform team, which is responsible for Affirm’s core loans products. Responsibilities Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team, leading engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems, and ensure that everyone is supported throughout delivery. Support peers and stakeholders in the product development lifecycle by collaborating with product management, design & analytics; participate in ideation, articulate technical constraints, and partner on decisions that consider risks and trade-offs. Proactively identify project, process, technology or business issues, advocate for them, and lead in solving them. Support the operations and availability of your team’s artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and supporting on-call efforts. Foster a culture of quality and ownership by setting or improving code review and design standards, and advocating for them beyond your team through writing and tech talks. Help develop talent on your team by providing feedback and guidance, and leading by example. Qualifications 4+ years of experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin. Track record of developing highly available distributed systems using AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes. Experience defining a technical plan for the delivery of a significant feature or system component with an elegant, simple and extensible design; ability to write high quality code easily understood and used by others. Proven ability to make significant changes in a large code base and develop a suite of tools and practices to enable safe delivery. Demonstrated ownership of growth, proactively seeking feedback from team, manager, and stakeholders. Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with a global engineering team. Equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Compensation and Benefits Base pay ranges and equity are part of a total compensation package, which may include health coverage (medical, dental, vision for you and your dependents), equity rewards, stipends for health, wellness and tech spending, and benefits. USA base pay ranges (per year): CA/WA/NY/NJ/CT: $190,000 - $240,000; other U.S. states: $169,000 - $219,000.
