for Senior Software Engineer Our client, based in sunny San Diego, CA, specializes in tackling network security challenges through the use of complex datasets and machine learning to predict cyber attacks before they occur. Recently funded with Series A, they are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their engineering team.
The ideal candidate is self-driven, with strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a passion for learning about technical products and architectures. The role involves working in a small, agile team to develop and enhance core products and services, including software integrations with security products.
Note: This position is not remote , but offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring candidates to be located in the San Diego area and to be US citizens .
Key Responsibilities Improve, maintain, and troubleshoot REST API (Flask applications).
Enhance and maintain data ETL processes using SQLAlchemy ORM .
Design and optimize database schemas for MySQL, MongoDB, or compatible RDS & NoSQL solutions to support BI needs.
Debug data inconsistencies and performance issues in the SaaS product.
Conduct independent research on security products for data integration and end-to-end application development.
Provide data insights for research and customer reporting.
Required Skills & Experience 5+ years of experience writing clean, well-designed Python (v3.8+) code following best practices.
Strong experience with Flask , SQLAlchemy , and Pytest .
Proficiency in MySQL , PostgreSQL , MongoDB , and Redis .
Experience with GitHub or similar repositories.
Hands-on experience with AWS resource management and provisioning.
Familiarity with Docker configuration and deployment.
Experience working in Linux server environments.
Preferred Qualifications Experience with AWS Redshift schema design and utilization.
Background in network security projects.
Knowledge of machine learning (ML) training and large language model (LLM) deployment.
Education & Work Authorization Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or Statistics ( preferred ).
