Overview We are seeking a highly experienced and security-minded Senior Staff Engineer – Backend & Cloud, Tech Lead to join our team in a hybrid capacity based in Seattle, WA. This role blends deep technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, requiring a strong foundation in backend development, cloud-native architecture, and infrastructure automation. The ideal candidate will lead engineering efforts while coordinating effectively with offshore teams to ensure delivery of scalable, secure, and maintainable systems. Responsibilities Participate in design, architecture and implementation of software systems solving complex problems. Includes defining, scoping and estimating stories and work artifacts. Ensure delivery of high quality, scalable, maintainable and well tested code Document designs. Provide on-call support for systems the team owns. Serve as the face of the offshore development team and stakeholders Act as the primary point of contact for Engineering Managers (EMs) and other onsite stakeholders Ensure effective communication and coordination between onsite and offshore teams Work with tech leads to align priorities, architecture decisions, and coding standards Break down epics and features into smaller technical stories for the offshore team Coordinate with other tech leads, ensuring that PR approvals follow defined processes Ensure offshore team participation in daily stand-ups and facilitate transparent status reporting Oversee delivery ownership for offshore contributions, ensuring timely and quality outcomes Manage knowledge transfer and attrition handling within the offshore team Handle issue escalation and proactively resolve blockers impacting the offshore team Provide progress updates and ensure accountability for the offshore team’s commitments Qualifications 10+ years professional hands on experience delivering quality software Excellent proficiency in Java and Spring boot framework Experience with messaging technologies and streaming platforms (Kafka) Experience with RESTful architecture and micro services Proficiency with Cloud technologies (AWS, Kubernetes) GCP is a plus Must know modern infrastructure tools and pipelines (GitLab, CI / CD, Terraform) Test automation experience at all levels (Unit, Integration, Regression and Performance / Load) Familiar with logging and metrics tools (New Relic, Splunk) Should be able to articulate and architect a well-designed system Familiarity with relation databases is a plus Retail experience is a plus Understanding of modern warehouse management systems is a bonus Experience with messaging technologies and streaming platforms (Kafka) Experience with RESTful APIs, micro services and event driven architecture Proficiency with Cloud technologies (AWS, Kubernetes, Docker) GCP is a plus Must know modern infrastructure tools and pipelines (Github, GitLab, CI / CD, Terraform) Familiar with logging and telemetry tools (New Relic, Splunk, Dynatrace) Familiarity with relation databases We have a global team of amazing individuals working on highly innovative enterprise projects and products.
