Overview Senior Staff Machine Learning Engineer/ Data Scientist role at Autodesk. This position is part of the Growth Experience Technology (GET) team, focused on building a seamless, data-driven experience for Autodesk customers and supporting teams.
Location: Remote within the U.S. or Canada; San Francisco is the preferred location. This role supports the Autodesk B2C business through data-informed decisions and the development of eCommerce platforms.
Position Overview Our GET Machine Learning Engineering organization seeks a seasoned Sr. Staff Data Scientist/Machine Learning Engineer to drive data-informed decisions. Data Scientists/MLEs in this team work on projects from ideation to implementation, developing and implementing machine learning models and algorithms that leverage user platform activities and industry trends to deliver personalized recommendations at the optimal moment.
Responsibilities Act as a Champion for a data-driven culture, evangelizing best practices and shaping the direction of key data science areas such as segmentation, recommendation systems, forecasting, product analytics, churn prediction and insights
Expand ML capabilities by designing, prototyping, and building scalable end-to-end ML pipelines that enhance Autodesk’s eCommerce personalization at scale
Drive experimentation at scale by developing robust experimentation frameworks to increase velocity while maintaining scientific rigor for rapid iteration and deployment of personalization models
Craft compelling stories and make logical recommendations based on data and ML model insights
Partner with cross-functional teams to initiate, lead, and drive large-scale/complex strategic projects
Act as a thought partner to senior cross-functional leaders to prioritize and scope projects and advocate for data-driven business decisions aligned with strategic goals
Mentor and guide junior data scientists/MLEs through project planning, technical decisions, and code/document reviews
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in data science, statistics, computer science, or a related technical field
10 years of experience leading technical project strategy, ML design, and optimizing industry-scale ML infrastructure
7 years of experience with design, architecture, and testing/launching software products
10+ years of hands-on experience with data mining and information retrieval
Experience in A/B testing and experimental design
Strong understanding of statistics, probability, and financial modeling
Ability to translate data insights into business impact
Preferred Qualifications MS or PhD in a quantitative discipline (data science, statistics, computer science, or related field)
15+ years of hands-on experience in ML design, development, and deployment, ideally in eCommerce
Hands-on experience with cloud ML platforms (AWS, Azure) and MLOps best practices

Salary transparency: For U.S.-based roles, starting base salary ranges from $166,600 to $269,500, with offers based on experience and location. Compensation may include bonuses, stock grants, and a full benefits package.
