Senior System/Network Engineer (Windows-Linux-ProxMox) Senior System/Network Engineer (Windows-Linux-ProxMox) Workplace Type: Remote - Region: San Francisco, CA Required Skills Experience designing and deploying highly secure cloud infrastructure at an enterprise scale. Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as ElasticSearch, GrayLog, and Grafana. Secure system lifecycle management experience. Proficiency in developing automated solutions for deploying infrastructure or applications using Python, Ansible, Terraform, GitLab, JSON or YAML, Rundeck, or Jenkins. In-depth knowledge of VMware, Windows, Linux, and container solutions like ProxMox, KVM, VCD, NSX-t. Supporting complex end-to-end network solutions in mission-critical environments. Experience with compiling Linux kernels and cross-compilation practices. Deep understanding of Linux and embedded Linux systems. Skills in scripting languages, especially Python and Shell. Excellent debugging skills. Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automating workflows. Fluency in SCM tools such as Perforce and Git, and build systems like make, CMake, Bazel. Experience with virtualization platforms (KVM, Proxmox, VMware) and containers (Docker). Knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, OSI layers), load balancing, VLAN configurations. Understanding of communication protocols, client-server architectures, network security, and software integration. Moderate to advanced networking skills, including WAN/LAN/DMZ, VPNs, switching, routing, security, DNS, DHCP, subnetting, VLANs. Knowledge of IT infrastructure and data center architectures. Experience with Nvidia embedded platforms. Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Packer, Terraform, Ansible, Salt. Experience with container orchestration platforms. Troubleshooting experience with 802.11 networks. Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Bachelor’s degree in IT or equivalent experience. 10+ years of experience in infrastructure or related fields. Core Responsibilities Ensure performance and maintenance of existing infrastructure, troubleshoot issues. Maintain infrastructure documentation. Support design, validation, and configuration of network and computing systems. Hardware and cabling support as needed. Analyze and troubleshoot system incidents to identify root causes. Perform system integration, hardware/software installation, and configuration of servers and workstations. Manage facility network and terrestrial communication devices. Collaborate with multi-skilled teams to achieve objectives. Manage end-of-service-life assets and develop mitigation plans. Design, deploy, and test cybersecurity systems and tools for private cloud environments. Implement NIST 800-53 controls, configure network security systems. Configure firewalls, DDoS appliances, and security monitoring rules. Perform system maintenance, incident response, and support within a DevSecOps environment. Operate within an ITIL framework.
